I can't figure out the bleaching???

Reef-Daddy-sent you a pm.
I did recently make the switch to BB and never considered the difference in light strength/penetration of the mh from SSB to BB. I always hear people running 400 halides with no problems so I never figured my 175's would be the issue. Keep in mind I got all these as frags from other reefers with similar lighting as mine. I run the halides about 8 hours a day. Should I cut them back? This is a mixed tank with softies as well. I have mushrooms, zoos and leathers. None of them come close to touching the SPS though. I really love the look of SPS and that's what I want to start concentrating on. I want to get this figured out before I add any more.

I vote because of UV. 10K bulb has much UV than 14K or 20K. If you put lamp lower than 12" from water, I am sure it should be because of UV.

It is not the lenght of lighting that is an issue. I run 250 DE pendants for 10 hours a day ever day and have a bare bottom.

I would say that if you are running 400 watters then it could be the amount of lighting and lenght.

It has to be something else. I would check all water perams just to be sure, I would even goto the extreme and take a sample to the LFS and have them check just in case your test kits are off.

Start somewhere and knock off as many possabilities as you can.

Like, what salt are you using? How often changing water, nitrates and amonia, phosphates levels, are you using charcoal or another form of remover. Skimmer is it working properly. bugs are there any. Fish is someone picking.

There are so many you have to take into account for everything.
