AHhhh. I fear that's your answer. Softies and zoas exude chemicals that hinder sps growth. Some are strong enough to do damage. You can mix lps and sps with no trouble, but a few leathers like, I believe, colt and sinularia, are very aggressive. To do well, you either need to choose, or keep 2 tanks. I have kept both in a 100 gallon with high flow, but a 29 is so small they're very close to one another. Some acropora are crankier than others; if you have chosen the fussier acropora and the more aggressive leathers and zoos, that could be it, right there. Carbon can help a bit, but in a 29, you're still right up against one another.

ahh thank you it finally comes out the answer, the sinularia will be going and in comes the acropora

No. Toadstools are in the Sarcophyton family and have one of the most potent toxins toward sps. Lobophytum(devils hand) are also one of the worst. In a system of that size I think you would need to have ALOT of filtration and run carbon 24/7 to have them both.

damn that stinks I love my toadstools, two green polyp toadstools tyree i believe, yellow figi toady, and 2 regualar toadys

i would try running chime-pure in your 29. Chemi-pure is basically super carbon.if you do keep them together chanfe your carbon or chemi-pure weekly. i have seen small mixed tanks that have softies, LPS, SPS.

I haven't heard of the leathers actually killing the Acros, rather just stunting the growth severely.
How old is the system? Does your temperature fluctuate any during the day? How long do the Acros live before they bleach? When you say bleach do you mean they start having little white strands of them and begin losing color and turn white, or do you mean the condition where they lose tissue rapidly and it sort of just "peels off"?

I'm inclined to believe that this isn't the doing of the leathers.

the system is 4 years old, the max the temp goes up to is 78, they live maybe a week if im lucky, they start to lose color never seen any strands come off the coral
Thanks

that would be a real pain in the but for me to change the carbon weekly, so if it is the leathers doing then i will have to make a decsion

What kind of light you use? 10K 14K?
If you have 10K under or some 14K, you would better get your light at least 12 " from water surface because of UV.
Good luck man... I also have 29 gal sps tank but sps grows craizily.
