I caved! Hairy mushroom acquired!

Christie, these are my favorite types of mushrooms. I've heard stories of them growing over a foot in no time when placed on halides. They make awesome surrogate hosts for clowns too. I want to get one of these when I have brighter lighting so that it can really take off Good luck with it.

Chriistie: Hold on to your chair and help me shield the thing that will be thrown at me after reading this.

I have never had any problems at all moving mine from the Nanocube to the larger tank. I have a disk with 5 colors on it. I left it in the nano untile I got enough of the off sring in the colors I wanted in the nano.
After that I simply took the disk out from the nano walked over a put it in the bigger tank. No fuss! No acclimation or anything. I now have them all along the bottom level in the big tank.
I keep both of my tanks pretty close and have never done any typ of acclimation from one tank to the other, just move!!

Ouch! Somebody just threw a skimmer at me!

You know I actually made a thread in the new to the hobby about whether or not people acclimate from one tank to the other - most people do and when I did my bleached yuma I did too because I know how fussy they are.. Then the other day when I changed a snail over I did it without thinking on my way to school and was like hmmm, wonder if that little guy will be okay, and why was I such an airhead?

Snail is fine.. i think something healthy could handle it if you keep your parameters near the same in both tanks.. Yeah there is other stuff we can't measure for but even with acclimation and transportation our corals still have to handle a bit of shock.


One of my concerns is going to ~6-10 inches or so of PC lighting into 18-20" or so of 4x54W T5s invididual reflectors and all.. they are *really* bright so I am weary of bleaching anything else out.

My fish knocked down a little acan frag I had that had some purple in it? I put it back up but one notch higher in its identical place in the aquarium- a few inches higher and the purple started going brown.. Moved it back down.. purple coming back. Go figure!

Strange that the color would come and go huh?

I hate when the clown decides to rearrange the tank witout asking and throws the shrooms on the sandbed upside down. Lukily I've never lost any from that.
