I took the plunge! I jumped in!

... just placed my order for a 150g SCA.

It's been said before here and I'll reiterate, "Steve @ SCA is awesome!"

Thanks to the community for the volumes of info so far and I'll surely be picking your brains as I build my tank.

Here we go!

good luck on your journey, this is a great hobby but I can be frustrating at first, but well worth it! and may I suggest you start a thread in the tank journals and build.

Congrats on the new purchase! Did you get the MDF stand or a solid one? If you got a pnp system the return pump and skimmer are fairly decent, yes there are better options but I've been running mine for 10months now and zero issues. Outta the 2 I would upgrade skimmer first. I ditched the soft plumbing on the drain for PVC and went with a combo of soft plumbing to PVC and the return to help keep noise down from vibration. I also used the supplied bulkheads with no issues so far either. They sealed perfectly and no leaks with just a good hand tightening.

If I had to do it over again I would make sure to get a solid stand. I am using the MDF and don't have any problems but I would feel better knowing it was solid. I would also coat the inside of the stand with some sorta epoxy or marine paint to protect the stand from splashes, salt creep, and spills.

Take things slow and enjoy your new ecosystem.
