I don't know, but this just doesn't seem right.

Okay, so I bought this bta from the LFS about three weeks ago. It looked good when I bought it and there was a clown swimming in it. But since I have brought it home, it contracts about every other day into the diameter of something slightly larger than a quarter and its tentacles turn from a light pink to a green color. Also, sometimes its mouth protrudes and looks funny. It has been doing this for about 3 weeks and it doesn't seem to be dying, but it just doesn't seem right. Any ideas?

I think they do this when they are releasing waste, I'm not a reliable source though, get it from someone with more experience. :)

Shouldn't be doing it as often as you say...how often do you feed this anemone? What are the tank parameters?

Are you feeding the anemone anything at all? If so, then it is normal for it to contract a day or so after feeding. They can be tricky critters, I've had mine for over a year now and it did well for 7-8 months. Then it decided to move down and partially under a rock. After a month or so I could tell it wasn't doing so well, losing colour and getting smaller. It was in a difficult spot to observe and I finally bit the bullet and rearranged the rock it was on to get it back into the open under better light. Good thing I did since it has stayed put and recovered nicely.
Mouth protruding can be a warning sign, but for the moment all you can do is keep an eye on it and hope for the best.
