I got a leak!!

Well I guess this happens to everyone if you've been in this hobby long enough.

The leak must be coming from a seam on the bottom of the tank. I can't see where but I think its in the front bottom and to the right of the tank.

Plan:
I have three clean 55 gal brute garbage cans.
I'll drill holes for bulk head to overflow into my sump.
Plumb and get circulation going.
Some of the larger coral will go to friend for babysitting.
All the others will go into the holding 55 gal drums.
All the fish will also go into the drums.
Empty the Tank and find the damage.
In the meantime, decide whether to buy a new tank (I'm moving in a year and didn't want to buy a new tank until I move into a new place)

SUGGESTIONS

I would say fix it Harry but me and you of all ppl seen a friend try to replace/fix a tank. Maybe get something used for cheap until you move

I cut apart and rebuilt a 110 a few years ago. So far, so good. It wasn't something you could do in a day, though. You need space, you have to completely cut the tank apart and then rebuild it straight. all panels have to be siliconed and put in place before the silicone starts to skin over, too. It can be done, but it takes more than one person, enough space to move with a level surface that's large enough to work on, and more time than you think.
I would look for a tank.

Than I guess it'll be a tank! Thanks guys!

So I decided to buy a new tank.

Some corals have been removed and sent to summer camp during this problem.

Here is the Efflo in a 5 gal bucket, here you can see it's almost 12" across by 10"!!

Looking for a tank. I want it to be shorter like 24"

Petland has a 180. RR for $850

Any other place I can order a tank?

Drips increased to 2.3 drops/sec

Tomorrow afternoon I will begin emptying the rocks into the brute cans. I didn't plumb them yet but the situation is get urgent.

I had to upgrade the overnight bucket. I just hope it doesn't blow out overnight.

I also shut off the auto top off.

Plan
Tomorrow I will take out all the rock in my 40 breeder refug, start moving coral from the 210g the to 40g. Hopefully I can accommodate the corals there. The potato chip colony will go in there first as it's about16" tall. Then the blue ridge soldiers as it's 12" wide. The bubble coral, then the rest.
All the base rock can go in the three 55g brutes that I'll plumb together.

The temp system will be an overflow from the 40g into the first 55g, then with a 1" uniseal bulkhead overflow to the next brute uniseal then to the third brute then into the sump.

The fish will be the last to be removed.

Bought a new tank from Petland. Going shorter a 180g. 24" tall same foot print.

Tomorrow after office hours will begin transfer of corals, and rocks. Still not sure if the fish will be going out of the tank yet. The drop rate is still consistent but stable.

Hey Harry,
Let us know what time you're doing this tomorrow.
I'll text you in a bit to check in. My wife wont be home for a couple of hours but I don't think I have too much going on tomorrow.
I can come help.

Btw, where are you setting up the 180 while the 220 is still in the office full of water and fish??

I personally want to thank Tunicata for his time and help today setting up temporary holding tanks in my fish room. We then began to remove all the few larger coral I had left and place them in the 40 breeder. The rest of the base rock went into the holding tanks.

The drip slowed down to 0.125/sec. The fish are really stressing out as they do not have hiding places.

The tank will be delivered sometime next week so i'll leave the fish in the main tank for now.

I just came back from the office. With the water level 4" below the over flow the leak has stopped, hmmm..

Tomorrow I'll recirculate the water through the main tank, if it starts leaking again I must believe that the leak must be higher up.
