i bought a 175 watt metal halide to replace my 2 65w pc lighting, and i was wondering if i should acclimate the new lighting or they should be fine. i mean its only about 40 watts more?

MH produce a more intense light and you can easily shock your corals! I have acclimated a couple of tanks and the best method I found has been increasing the light every 2 days or so. I start off with the light on for 2 hours a day, 2 days later I up it to 3, and so on. Hope that helps.

CAN i TAN MY LEATHERS WITH THIS LIGHT?

Welcome back Johnny. It appears the light is 4 to six inches off tank surface. You may want to raise it some. But with what appears to be in this tank I would not worry to much about acclaimation. With your new lighting I may as well drop off a few SPS, ready to enter the big leagues? LOL, LMK

hey dave,
ya i rised it, i just didnt like the light in my eyeballs lol i just wanted to hear someone say dont worry about it bc i wasnt, but i just wanted a second opinion lol. but thanks for the welcome! it feels so good to be home. all the tanks are getting so much better with water and daily cleaning. you gotta come check them out! anytime let me know

Johnny, it's good to know I'm not the only one that bought that "Carpet-Soaker 2000" protein skimmer. You don't live upstairs by chance do you? :)

i use to live upstairs but moved to a downstairs condo. lol i never heard it call the before. im guessing it got your carpet soaked hehe

you bet I did, several times. The one I bought has no fine adjustments on it. Either it's turned down so far that it does nothing, or just a little microadjustment to the valve and it overflows in a matter of two to three hours.
