i got my hood doors put on today

A lot of people here on RC were pushing me to the XM's but the more I read I just decide to go with Ushio - I've been very happy.

I was originally going to use T5 actinics, but John did some temp tests and said the vho lights run much cooler than T5 lights, so I'm going to use four 72 inch, 160 watt, URI Super Actinic bulbs with two IceCap 660 ballasts. That will give me a total of 1390 watts with the MHs and VHOs.

Nice combination mflamb. I have 4 VHOs and will have 2 T5's on the 75G. The only thing I found with the VHO is that they only last about 4 months. Now - I am only using VHO right now on the 75g so I really watch the corals and I know when it's time to change them. The T5's from what I understand will last longer - and that was the reason for moving to the T5's on the 75g. At this time I'm phasing the T5's in not because I don't like the color - I love the Actinic VHO's but the cost of having to change the bulbs every 4 month - that's not very good.

Checkinhawk, Those doors are fantastic!!!!! and the tank and hood looks great too.

ReefArtist, that is some awesome work..... If ever there is some thing I can do for you a trade is in order:)

deftonead - that's to funny - now we don't want to get the toilet thread going again - :crazy1: You might have to post a pic of your toilet seat - LOL

CheckinHawk,

Those doors are awesome. You do great work. I also like those Ca Reactors.

Is your PBT back in your 90? Is he getting along with everyone? I know he was attacking some of your other fish earlier and you moved him to your refug.

I just bought one this weekend and hope he plays nicely. I will find out in a few weeks.

Cheers,
Chris

gunter thanks for the compliments, reefartist did the glass work i just put them in the wood doors.so without her i just have normal doors.no the PBT isnt in the tank,he died.only good thing about that is it will allow me to get the copperband butterfly in the tank first then add any tang or tangs i want.im trying to get 2 tangs but i dont think i will be able to.if i wasnt worried about nipping id get a dwarf angel, but im just soooooo scared it will be a problem.if the PBT is your last fish you probably wont have a problem.

CheckinHawk,

I am sorry to hear about your PBT. Do you know why he died or any guesses?

The PBT is my last fish. Hopefuly all my fish live for a long time and get along, I don't know what I will do if I ever want to add something else. I have been warned that these fish are mean, but I decided to try it. I hope I don't regret it. Time will tell, but if I do I will find the PBT a new home.

Cheers,
Chris

i had one, until i tore the tank down, he died overnight @ the store that i gave him to for his little vacation.

But he had become mean - he was the most loving, active & friendly fish, right next to my clown.

I added a naso tang & he didn't survive 4 days in the tank ... the PBT beat him up really bad... beat him up till we woke up to the naso being dead one morning.
