Hey guys Im not new to keeping wrasses but have never had anything like this before, only sixlines and run of the mill 20 dollar fish. Today i received my Trio or Pyle's Fairy Wrasses. They are beautiful specimens and are from Vanauatu. I will post pictures soon just want them to get nicely acclimated first!

Is a candy hogfish a type of wrasse if so I juust got one 2 days ago and I love the thing already he very active and swims all day.

Welcome to the club!

Brad,
Can you offer any pointers to keep in mind when making new wrasse additions? I've seen the acrylic acclimation chamber in some of your images. I wondered if you had any guidelines around adding new wrasses to stocked tanks (in some cases with other established wrasses).

Using an acclimation chamber is best. Wrasses are very timid at first, and if you just introduce them straight to the population, they get harrassed and end up hiding for days and days.
Some don't even come out to eat and end up starving. But with an acclimation box, they get used to the other fish, and visa versa.
And you can make sure they are eating well when they are by themselfs and are in great condition when you finally let them loose.
I will usually keep them in the box 2-4 days depending on how the population acts towards the newbie.
Also. add a pvc piece into your box, so that the new guy has a place to get away and relax a bit when in the chamber.

Thanks to Brad, we too are Wrasse Addicts... :lmao:

Seriously, it is amazing how well an acclimation box works to introduce new fish. I can't imagine doing it any other way. :)

i will say this on the pylies, as i have had a few of them over the years, cebu's and Vanauatu's, this has to be one of the most aggressive wrasse's i have owned towards other wrasse's, especially if it isnt a huge tank, now i gave my friend a supermale from cebu {450g dt } and it isnt bad at all with 20 some other wrasse's, but was aggressive in my tank 80g and tank wasnt over stocked and only had 2 other fairy\flashers at the time, nice fish though

What can I say.
I represent that remark. LOL

Eye candy.
