I Got Two New Fish

Random stop by the LFS to kill some time and I ask if they
will be getting any interesting Wrasses in.
Mike (the LFS worker) says, " I've got one of the nicest
Christmas Wrasses I've ever seen. I've had him for 3
weeks.

While looking at him, I spotted a sharp radiant wrasse.

Decisions, Decisions, So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I got both!:D :D :D :D

Beautiful fish. You should have quarantined them.
Wrasses are one of the fish that is questionable if you should quartine or not. They can get very stressed.

I feel the same way. I made a judgement call based on the
fact that they (both fish) had been in the LFS for three weeks
and both were in spectacular health.

I hope I don't regret the decision, but what I could offer
in QT would not be very comfy for an appropriate quarantine
duration.

Wish me luck!

Dont sweat it...I never quarantine fish and have never had a problem..knock on wood. As long as they are deathly ill looking, and are eating and swimming fine then you should be alright. I think a QT will stress a fish out even more then just putting them in the tank..

That is horrible advise. A good QT procedure is in my opinion the most important part of the hobby. I hope some newbie doesn't read this and think they can just go throwing in all their new arrivals. Sorry for getting off topic.

very nice wrasse pics.........pretty clear

i have an x-mas wrasse right now and have a radiant coming in soon. now i cant wait!

Are those two types of wrasses reef safe with inverts? I'm looking into getting another wrasse for my 90g, but I have a very large cleaner shrimp right now which I don't want to give up.

I do understand what you are saying And I do quarantine. But with fish that bury them selves in the sand like certain kinds of wrasses in my opion should not be quarantined. I think it is better of to let them go bury them selves in the sand and not stress them out. This is saying if it is a clean looking specimen and watching it in the LFS for a while making sure nothing is wrong. Just my opinion.

my christmas wrasse is perfectly safe with all my shrimps

he does swoop down on the sand and then catch floating pods, He eats alot of pods actually lol
