So i picked up 3 lyretail anthias a few days ago and within one day one died. I researched and found that they should be in odd numbers. Is that true? should i get one or 3 more? i have a rsm250 (65 gal) mixed reef. i have 1 desjardini tang, 2 perc clowns, bicolor blenny, tiger goby and of coarse 2 lyrtail. thoughts?

Couple of questions for ya...

How are all other fish doing? Water parameters? Acclimation method and period?

Possible that one of them was killed by the other. What sexes did you get? If 1 male and 2 females, the aggression will be at a minimum with 3 anthias, but there still may be some aggression as the male will chastise the females so they won't turn male. The females will also jockey for position using the same tactics. If you got two males, they will definitely fight (often to the death). Check out this article. Lengthy, but a good read: http://www.liveaquaria.com/pic/article.cfm?aid=266

Also should mention: Your tank is kind of small for those fish...

Best of luck!!!
