I hate to report this..TROPICAL TREASURES has burned down!

I heard from a friend. Not sure how reliable. That Don is having issues with his current landlord. So who know when its going to happen. But from what I heard he is going to reopen, just dont know when.

As for the old store, it definitly could use the update. As for the livestock. I always fealt really bad about it. At one point I remember their coral tank was just a pile of corals. Stinging and killing each other. Wasn't right.
But I think we all agree we need to keep what few stores we have in the area. Hopefully if he updates his tanks it will get better.
Take a look at Pet Safari. A few years ago it was one of the worst places to go for corals. Now they have a decent selection and much better display tanks. Even got some employees with some knowledge. I would now rank it as one of the better stores to go to now. ATR and AZSB has gone sour, which only leaves us with AA and AT for our coral shopping needs. Hopefully Reef Culture will be a good one.

As hermanx has said he has been having some issues with the landlord and has decided to take an undetermined amount of time until he reopens the store. Sorry to say but you might have to make the drive to Aqua Touch. I had to watch his dog this weekend and he has the displays and a few of the tanks that he had for sale in his house. So who knows when this will change. I will keep you guys posted if I hear anything.

Went by this week and spoke to Don he is shooting to have store opened agian for Forth of July.

The store is really good sized once all the stuff is out of there I was shocked.

First off the store is cramped and isn't well kept, sorry for being honest. At the same time I don't wish harm on anyone in this trade. Its a tough business and I'm glad the animals weren't destroyed. It would be nice to see him get a better place with more space if he can afford it.

Sorry to inform all of you but Don has no intention of opening the store by the 4th of July. I had drink with him on Fathers day and talked to him about it. I know that he still has a lot of the dry goods and a few aquariums and I talked with him about maybe selling some of the stuff if you had cash since he doesn't have a credit machine of course. But unfortunately will not be open any time in the near future. Also, as far as the new store is going to be concerned I have talked with Don about his plans for improving his setup and he plans on doing all T5 and LED setups for the saltwater and will hopefully carry more of these products. Needless to say everything will be new or refurbished so obviously improved from the previous setup. As far as keeping up with the times the last three years have been hard on this industry and, to be honest, for being such a small shop is lucky to still be operating given the economic climate. I did ask him when he planned on having the store back up and running and he didn't have an answer for me.

Shame I was lied to >:/

the thing everybody needs to realize here is that no one is being lied to ( have you ever had to remodel anything let alone a business in which you cant control when a landlords contractors are going to start or finish) and that as naubound has said things are going to change ( does anyone also realize how hard it would have been to make changes to an existing store in these economic times let alone when things were good) so how about instead of criticism everyone offers some things they might like to see happen there to make you want to go back

I used to visit TT more often than the east side shops because I work in the area, I would always bring home something for a good price. He would always match an internet price for me, usually without me having to ask, the prices were low to begin with. I have never had any problems with any fish I have got from there. I look forward to the renovated store. It doesn't have to be RC or AT for me to shop there. Both are much too far for me to visit regularly. :)

Ok it is official Tropical Treasures is set to open September 1st. This is tentative but as of right now that is the day Don is saying that it will be open. It is in the same location on 29th and Bell. Don did some remodeling getting rid of the carpet and raising the ceilings. From what I hear it looks good I'm going to go by tomorrow and check it out and maybe help a little getting it back up and running.

I'm looking forward to the reopening, if nothing else to get their good deal on salt again :) Some remodeling will do the store good too.

arizonah: the store is in a weird spot and is a very small store front it is on the north side of bell behind hooters. I will definitely let you guys know about the store and the progress.

I stopped by the shop the other day on my way to school and what a change ( epoxy coated floor instead of old carpet, real shelving for displays , the roof was raised so it looks more open , it looks like they are also expanding there marine section a little, and have consolidated there fresh , didnt see any thing yet about display setups but otherwise it looks like a whole new shop) this ought to make some people who have complained about some of these issues happy and it will be nice to have our far west side shop back

Popped by last night on my way home from work and the electrical company was in there. looked like they were wiring up the back wall of tanks but couldn't say for sure. The sign says opening on the Sept 1st but there may be delays do to last minute remodel details and he left his number on the door to call with any questions.
The ceiling has been raised real lights put in and everying was painted white so it look huge inside and clean. There don't seem to be as many tanks though and much more floor stock but he never did have alot to choose from what made his place cool was he'd order anything in for ya when you asked for it. Glad to have our westside store back even if not to buy anything i can just pop in and putt putt around after a hard days work.

Im excited. The old store was kinda cramped but he usually had the oddball freshwater fish I wanted. The saltwater selection was somewhat small compared to most of the other stores I visit. Im just ready for the store to be back open so theres one a little closer to this side of the valley.

Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I can use this fish store as a reason why I'm in Hooters? "I was in the parking lot of the fish store and I smelled these wings. I couldn't resist the smell of the wings so I went into Hooters? I was in Hooters for the wings." (yea, that will work)
