Lost another clam last night. I lost both ORA clams that I bought a few weeks ago.

Both Clams were fine the night before their abduction. Open and beautiful at ten O'clock. The next morning I get a call from the wife asking why the clam shell is empty. Both times there was a slimy tube leading away from the shell and the shell was covered in slime.

Now I get to figure out how to get rid of it. My tank is way too established and grown out to pull rock out. I think I am going to try catching it with tweezers.

This says to dip the rock it resides in soda water....but, what ill affect would that have on coral living on the rock?

Sorry to hear you have the killer worm. I battled them for 3 years and gave up, sold the rocks to someone going fish only.

You have to catch way after the lights are out. Its best to buy some snails to use as bait. I've caught tons of them from 1" to 12".

Thats sucks Mike. Those worms only come out at night so to catch them, you have to use a trap with some baits

I'm curious. Before having clams did you have snails in the tank? And if so, were there empty shells based on what Steven stated? How long were you clams alive before being preyed upon? Last but not least, so what does anyone recommend as far as live rock dips? Never dipped a rock, besides curing it. Sorry for some many questions but this is interesting.

I have never been able to keep snails long term. they have always slowly dissapeared. I have a 7" squamosa that I have had about 5 years from a baby. First one I lost was a 4" crocea. Then my brand new 2" maxima and lastly my 2" Tiger stripe derasa.

That is an ugly sucker. I have one of those worm traps you can use. I don't think it will fit a larger one though.
