we have a 37 gallon tank and the last week and a half the bubble tip anemony which is behaving strange he is retracting into it self and last night it balloned on the inside of one side of it and my black spicked erchin has lost a lot of spickes last night. We did a water change on friday to see if that would help and it didnt there was a introduction of a leather coral into the tank on tuesday of last week has this upset the tank ect. We have had the water loocked at from the dealer and it is good and thay have no idear why it is behaving in this way. can you help sorry for the spelling !

Do you know what your water parameters are?

How long have you had the anemone?

Anemones are finicky about their water quality. The curling up inside themselves is a pretty natural occirence when they ar enew, theya re trying to adjust to the water around them.

Some corals do give off chemicals which can irritate or kill other corals. You may want to run some carbon to absorb any chemicals in the water and see if that helps.

Unfortunately we will really need more info about your set-up to be able to help ie.e water quality, lighting, size and age of system etc.

Without water parameters as requested, there's not much to say. I would be guessing if I said that your tank is rather new, and you may have introduced too much bioload at one time. That usually spells trouble with new systems, much more so for systems as small as a 37G. In other words it doesn't take very much to throw off a very new, and very tenuous balance.
I would take water tests done at a LFS as a waste of time, and invest in quality beginner test kits such as ph, ammonia, nitrates, and Alk.

It would help a great deal to have the actual values posted for the following water quality criteria: Temperature, Salinity, pH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and alkalinity.

fwiw, in earlier years Urchins were used as a "canary in the mine" kinda thing, they would let hobbyists know when water quality was getting bad. Dropping alot of spines off is probably a sign of poor water quality
