Steve is that repeater a 2 meter? What frequency in?

You got PM
:)

We had a little power outage this morning, for about an hour and half. I lost a couple of frags, but im not so sure that it was due to the power outage.

But just in case, i'm buyin a UPS and generator this weekend..

My tank was without power for 12+ hours. Darn storm killed my mystery wrasse! Everything else seems okay. Went out to buy a generator just in case, but when I got home power was back on.

Well being a computer geek for many of eons as it may seem, I can share my experiences. First off, a UPS is really meant as a a VERY short term solution. Batteries do not scale well, so think of a UPS as a stop gap for those flickers and possibly up to 20 minute outages.

Be sure the UPS you are looking at is rated at the draw you expect to pull when on battery power. Typically you will want to run ONLY the essential items to get you along. The less the load, the longer your battery will last. This requires math - pulling (X)amps * (Y)volts = VA rating. The higher the VA = the more equipment you can accommodate. As for brands, I typically stick with the top player? - APC.

You can buy used but be careful - the batteries are not indefinite and will lose their ability to hold a charge after a period of time.

Steve can probably give you more technical info regarding selection as I am sure I just covered the very basics from a consumer point of view.

I'm in loomis and we have been down since 10:30 this morning and still no power. I bit the bullet and bought a Generator. Think $300 is a small price to pay for how much i could lose.

Hope everyone else is making it through.

We never did lose power here in Tahoe, but we got over two feet of snow at Lake level and my DirecTv dish needs to be brushed off.

I love climbing 24 foot ladders hoping it is set good in snow!

Davis: Power outage started around 9:30 AM. Power came back on at around 5 AM. Tank temperature was at 58F. Things looked stress, but I don't see a complete meltdown. Time will tell.

Worst part of the outage - I stayed at home sick, and didn't have internet connection! ARGGGGG.... Thank goodness for BBQ's. I was able to feed the family and the neighbors.

Robert,

Glad to hear that your tank made it through this storm. I was thinking about you earlier - hoping that nothing happens to your systems - especially after the major outage your had in 2006.

Minh

I learned from that experience Minh and now have a auto transfer generator hooked up to my home.

I was kinda hoping the power would go out here so I could get some use out of it. (And to make my neighbors jealous when the whole street is dark except my Christmas lights and lit snowman in the yard.)

Well, unfortunately my fences didn't hold up too well:

Loomis still has no power thats 24hrs now!

I hope fellow reefers here in loomis had back up.

I know Drdna lives here and i think foothillcorals also. Good luck guys

Just got power back. Generator ran 27 hrs straight. I'm so glad I bought that thing. Powered tanks, fridge, and I even offered to run a line to my neighbors breathing apparatus if the outage went on any longer... Now back to patrolling the perimeter.

I took a generator over to another reefers house this morning. I am housing his yumas and such in my QT system. I could not believe all the damage I saw as I was going over to his house.

I know that some parts of Arden have been out of power since last night. Hopefully, Rafael and the others that lives in that area are okay.

I lost power twice, for about 2 hr each time, everything is doing fine, even the frag tank in the garage is doing well

thanks Jeff

I just talked to Doug and he has been out of town for the last two days. He lives off of fulton over there and that area. He won't be home until tomorrow.
