I jinxed myself!! Bta split!

my maroons are being pretty strange.

I can usually stick my hand/arm in the tank without any issues.
today i tried to fix my torch that fell over, sorta near the btas but not that close. female hit me 3 times. really strong fish! and she kept swimming circles around the btas defending them

wont eat either.

glad to hear they look normal. :) thanks!

Yeah, i think so too. they usualy get to sleep inside a giant folded taco/anemone... these lil ones arent protecting them. so they just keep swimming back and forth to all of em.

update. looking good :D

I havent tried it. The one on the very top is the one that got the 1/2 split. It looks like it may have a mouth, but looks a lil mangled still.

the other two look like they went thru a major change lastnight!
Yesterday morning they still had guts showing. one caught some mysis and put it onto its guts... then a bunch of hermits gathered around, so I knocked it off.

But today it looks like they sealed theyre two ends together and look circular! So I may try tomorrow. But it hasent been even 5 days yet :)
one on the right did some walking lastnight, moving towards the light i think. close to a maxi jet though. hafta keep an eye on it.

I feel like a lil kid at xmas, so exciting 4 me!

TOURKID

Not to hijack, but mine split four weeks ago and one is not eating, just hanging upside down and deflated.

The other one looks great.

I am afraid that the deflated one isn't going to recover. it looks worse each day.

Are splits always successful?

this is my first split. but ive read alot of what other people have to say.
no splits arent always successful. some just hide until they die.. more often they walk into powerheads, get bleached and just dont make it.

is your deflated one ever inflate?
does food stick to it when it eats?
is its foot planted in the rocks?
is it bleaching?
after 4 weeks it should have a mouth agian, and as far as i read, it should be back to normal...
is

It has been attached to the same place as always. But it hangs upside down. the foot is still atached. It has remained deflated the whole time. before it went upside down, I thought I saw what looked like part of a mouth. It has not eaten and nothing will stick to the tenacles. Looks really bad just hanging there.

I would start a new thread, and get a picture of it as well. Theres alot of people that can help you before its too late.
Check out www.karensroseanemones.com too. alot of good info.

what kinda rock is it on? can you turn it around? (dont do this yet.. start a new thread and ask about it!!)

If its mouth is gaping and you can see alot of 'noodles' or its decaying by the foot, your best off removing it. If you dont see these signs, you may just be able to save it. try every day to feed it anything tiny.

gary... after 4 weeks its suddenly improving? thats good to hear. When my bta was down I soaked its food in selcon and it helped. maybe try that too. and get that bugger eatting :) show us some pictures too!! ;)

Yes I need to learn how to post pics. That will be my next project.

Thanks for your help. Hope everything works out for your new clones.:)

gary.. photobucket.com is the easiest way. you sign up... hit the 'upload' button find where your pics are (removable disk or file etc) click it, and it'll upload it and give your 3 ways to post.

Tourkid, glad to see your anemones are doing good. Mine are still doing good also. One of them stayed really deflated for about 5 hours one day and I was getting worried but I fed it the next day and it perked back up. Even though it has been about 3 to 4 weeks since the split, I still see them trying to repair themselves and they are getting better everyday!
