I just can't win with Nitrates

I don't know very much about the Jabeo's (and I'm also not sure of the spelling) but I'm surprised that any wideflow powerhead could really hurt an SPS. That said, my MP40 sits towards the back of the tank and one of the 6095s sits at toward the front of the tank. The goal is to create a somewhat circular motion. The other two 6095s are on the back of the tank, one pointed a little up and one pointed a little down. I still have some dead spots but they are pretty limited. If the cyano is only growing a little on the tips of the sps, I have two questions.
1. Are the tips still alive? Usually cyano won't grow on live SPS tissue (unless, as you mentioned, it's completely overwhelmed the tank).
2. Do your SPS look healthy otherwise?

Hydor 4's are 1400gph each set a little over half so about 800gph each, the Hydor 2 is 600gph, the Hydor Nano 240 is 240gph then my return which is 350gph so a total of about 2800gph turn over rate of 50

The SPS were added about 2weeks before the Cyano showed up. Some of the SPS have Cyano on the tips and i to think the tips have died or bleached. The rest of the coral looks fine its just the tips. Other than that the Cyano was smothering my GSP frag and was on the sand bed and on some rock

try just aiming the power head higher. this way the bulk of the strength of the flow hits the surface and wont be as powerful just a thought

I have two Hydor 4's pointed toward the surface the Hydor 2 is pointed across the sand on the lower back right and the nano 240 is about halfway up the back wall on the left pointed along the back wall

oh you dont need more powerheads, you have enough just turn those babies up. I would agree with stolireef again. (damn is he smart) the sps might be dying because of high nitrates and phosphates. what kind do you have

They aren't dying the PE is awesome on them. The Ponape Birdsnest popped its bag so the tip was exposed to air for about 1-2hours. The caps are doing great except were the power head was blowing across it but its starting to heal. The Stylo is crazy nice along with the Birds of Paradise. I have one Acro that had Cyano strings across it and hasn't done well but hasn't died either another Acro is doing great. All have shown growth.

I cant take a pic i am in the middle of three days lights out. I dont want Cyano on the tips of the coral that has it. I never said nothing is wrong obviously something is or i would have Cyano. The only thing i have seen off is nitrates which are about 20-25ppm. So that is what i am trying to reduce and in turn kill off the Cyano. If i kill off the Cyano then the tips on the SPS can recover.

i never understood the 3 day lights out to kill cyano. when the lights get turned back on you will still have a problem, because this stuff grows fast :) but hopefully it works for you

Not sure if its gonna work but my hope is that when Cyano dies it releases the nutrients back into the water column. After 3 days i will do a huge water change in hopes of taking out a lot of nutrients thus killing off the Cyano

i never liked huge water changes in salt water tanks, especially if you say most of your sps are growing . sps like stable conditions, as do most corals
