I might be crazy! 220G on it's way.

My LFS is closing. They offered me a great deal. $400 for tank, stand, metal halide canopy, dual overflows etc.

My hesitation is not in my inexperience. I have been in the hobby for almost 7 years. My hesitation comes in the maintenance, cost and proper equipment for this big rank. It needs work. I am going to sand and paint the stand as well as re silicone the seals etc. It is about 5-7 years old.

My current setup is a 90 G with VHO canopy, 75 G sump, tunze skimmer. Been very lucky with bith fish and corals. Mostly softies. I'm nervous about switching tanks. They are both about the same age but my fish have been with me for 5+ years, sooo nervous, need encouragement.

If I'm crazy, I can fix up the tank and sell it.

Going back and forth.

That's a smokin' deal! I would've pulled the trigger on it. Good luck!

That is one heck of a deal indeed!!! Congrats!!

Was this store in the GTA?

As per the other equipment ie skimmer, see if you can get an even better deal from the store! If they were running this tank for that long they must have the rest of the equipment that you need!!!!

Luckedout, thanks.

Sweet ride, they had one sump for the whole store. I would have but didn't have that much money. Bad timing. I have a nice setup now. Nervous to go bigger. Gotta get the tank here to look at it.

Outside TO but that's where I'll have to get my supplies now or online. I don't need much to do it. Mostly worried about more humide or more money. Gonna take my time and plan it out.

That's what they say to do on Reef Central ; )

Nice thread title!

Nice thread title!

When I read the title I was thinking you might be crazy...and broke.:lmao:

Like the poster above me said, I would have pulled the trigger too. I guess that makes us all crazy.

Congratulations and looking forward to your build.

Well the tank is here. I had to put it fron the back of the truck into the garage. It is so big. Tank itself took up the whole truck bed so we had to make a second trip for the stand and the light. This tank is huge. I don't know how to get it in my house! 7ft long, 2.5' wide.

I will get some picks up. Tank is really dirty and the inside of the stand is worse than I thought. I guess yoi get what you pay for and I bought a new project. Gonna get some pictures.

That wouldn't have been the demise of Box of Water would it? Your current 90 will make a fine sump for the new show tank.

Yes Dave it was the box of Water. Are you in London as well?

My 90G will be for sale actually. I am going to keep my 75G sump. Gonna be awhile though. I am going to take my time with the new tank and set it up right. I also want to rework the stand with some trim and a paint job. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Soooo much to do.

Yes I am, though no great expert. I can't afford a tank myself, but am doing some maintenance on reef tanks. There was a reef club of sorts here in town until last Spring, then seems to have imploded over last Summer, so there's no real support network left, I'm afraid. However, there's some good people over at Sealife Central.

Congratulations I think bigger tanks are easier to maintain than smaller ones, take your time on the new one and as they say take it one day at a time

It is a TANK!!! ;) I love it but it's gonna be a work in progress. The Stand was more water damaged by the move than I anticipated. I'm gonna re-do the whole thing. I wish it was summer. I've got the light in the house.

Any big guys in my area? Hahaha :)

If you want honest answers don't ever ask this group of people if you should go bigger or not.

This is akin to asking Willy Wonka if eating chocolate is bad for you.

ZOKU, Thanks I will be taking my time.

Alex, I will forever be a newbie at this. even after 8yrs, there are things only a few people really understand what it is like to want to get to my bigger tank.

Right now I need to;

Fix the lights, screw socket back together, paint maybe. . . .
Redo stand maybe in black with new hangers. It will mostly stay for storage as my tank room is downstairs.
Clean out Tank, check scratches and maybe re-silicone it. . . Not Sure.

Only a Canadian would get this gift for Christmas, haha, so Frustrated it's still outside.

ahh let it snow ;(

Ice: the tank's glass is an inch thick.

Trigs: Be careful what you ask for haha. I'm just lucky I have a lot of the stuff and won't have to buy much. I think I might by a new RO/DI. I'm gonna neef to make alotta water! Mine is looking old and dirty.

I want to put put deflectors in the light housing. It has none. Any ideas guys? Remember on a budget lol.

Thank you so much Dave M. I went to Sealife Central today. That setup is amazing and Gary and Linda are so knowledgeable. The corals and fish are all healthy. I think I'm in love with a LFS!!!! :) soooo lucky it's in London.

Thanks to Reef Central also.
