I need an update! Been out of the hobby for a bit.

Hey everyone!

It has been almost 8 years since my last tank. I'm looking to jump back into this crazy hobby. What have I missed and if someone can give me an update? Last time I was in the hobby there were arguments between t5 vs MH, LEDs sucked and were super expensive, never performing water changes seemed insane and all mushrooms were cheap as hell! lol

I hope everyone is doing well. I now live in Tampa FL but this was always my home so I feel right to post here.

Hey Matt, Led's are much better, they pretty much have replaced everything else, look into the eco tech line of lights, everything else hasn't change much.

Agree completely complete Ecotech are some of the best lights out there. I have two XR 15 gen 4 and love the way the make the corals look.

DC pumps are gaining quite the foothold, zoanthids have fancy names, skimmers have gotten more fancy...etc.

I Agree completely about the LED lights are the best way to go

I agree about the coral prices... I saw a small red sea xenia yesterday for 75, and small trachy's are going for 100+
