I need help...having diffeculties with my zoa's!

ok well i just pulled it out and anything around it that didn't look like it needed to be there...i also looked around the zoa's to see if anything else needed to be taken off...everything looks good and i turkey basted then and now they are back in the tank...i do notice though that i have a bit or this red stuff around my zoa's is this anything?

thanks

haha...i wont need to touch it...you can sorta see it in the second pic were around the middle of the tube, you can see were it is slightly darker and dark red...really when looking at it, it doesn't cover the outside it just covers the middles and its in a pretty good circular fashion...

i have no idea...you can see the red stuff that is on the gray part of my zoa's in the picture above...#2...you can see how it goes grey-red-grey...

reef junkie i have to say that maybe with the mushroom gone improvement may be on the horizon...i will keep my fingers crossed...the polyps that were closest to the mushroom haven't opened or even peeked in the longest time and tonight even after everything the three closest to the mushroom are peeking out! i'll keep you posted over the next few days... o yea and i went looking at the zoaid wbe page and i think that my zoa's are the either the dragon eyes or the eagle eyes...but since i haven't seen them in a while i'll let you know when they open up!

That would be frigging awesome!
Now remember, you said if I helped you with this and they lived, I get your first born, ok?:p

OK! it's been a day since i did the operation on the lonely mushroom...i saw more color from the zoa's today then i have seen in a long time, none fully opened but they are moving closer and closer and peeking out further and further...

thanks you so much reef junkie! i will try to take a pic tomorrow!

Don't thank me yet! If they die I'll feel terrible!:eek1:

I'll make a deal with you... If they die, I'll send you a new frag. You just have to either drive to long island or pay for shipping.

Better deal, if they live, I'll give you a frag of one of my really exotic zoas. But those you'll have to drive out to long island to get them.;)

WOW are you serious!?! your willing to do that...of course i would drive up! We'll i'll keep you updated and like i said i'll try to take a pic tomorrow...

Sure man, I can be very generous when I want to.

So listen, I'm moving to my new house in a couple of weeks. When I do, I am going to be setting up a coral farm in my basement. Nothing big, only about 100 gallons. But as I bring my corals over, I will be fragging the colonies up and placing probably about 100 frags of some of the nicest zoas you'll ever see on eggcrate. When the time is right, you come over, check out my system and I'll hook you up.
I used to do this for my local club, but they're ingrates. So, I'll share them cool people instead.

Keep the progress of this colony posted. Remember, keeping this colony alive would be beneficial for you.;)

That's awful nice of you Reef Junkie, to bad there are not more like that in this hobby. Thats the same way I feel about sharing....

Azurel,
Thanks! I'll be honest, I am a fickle SOB when it comes to who I give my zoas to. I don't know why, I guess it's one of my character defects.

Plus, roadrunner got me with one of the laws of influential psychology. I don't even know if he is aware of it!

Anyway, here is an article written by Robert Cialdini that covers a peculiar story about Ben Franklin; which is about influencial psychology. I posted it here once before, but it's still a great read.

hey i was wondering...should my zoa's just stay were they are or should i put them higher up with higher lighting?

...originally i moved them from higher light and flow to a low spot in my tank with lower light and flow...or should i just leave them there and see how they are doing?

...in the beginning of the day i saw alittle bit more color but still none to fully open yet...as of right now they are all closed up...hopefully later they will open up again!?!

reef junkie i would love to come up to see your entire setup! that would be awsome...and how did i get you in one of the laws of influential psychology?

Ah ha! So you read the article. You were'nt a nemesis, so it was even easier for you to influence me. God I'm a pushover.

Sure thing, let me move my tank to the house and after it's up and running, you're welcome over. god knows I owe about 50 people frags... This means I'm going to become a fragging freak!:wildone:
