I need help...having diffeculties with my zoa's!

ok cool...i cant wait! ok so tonight i went up stairs to find that my frag of zoa's had fallen from there spot and were up side down in the sand...im not sure for how long but i turned them over and put them back (very snug) do i have anything to worry about...the drop was only about 1-2 inches and the lights were out so i know they were closed up tight...

Nope. They'll be fine.
I've mutulated zoas before (not on purpose) to find all the little pieces growing into new polyps.

well another day has gone by and the zoa's are showing more and more color yet none are fully open!?! its slow but the progress of getting better can be seen!

i also checked my ca/alk levels tonight...there at 400 ppm for ca and 7 dkh for alk...on a chart they end up in the bottom left corner of the target range...i'm still trying to raise the levels a little more but i'm happy that im in a good area!

Reef Junkie!!! I just checked out you pics of your tank and all those awsome zoos... I just have one thing to say.... 2 thumbs up!!! WOW Nice collection....:eek1:

Thanks Pazazz!:D

Roadrunner,
Try adding a little more of the alk buffer on the b-ionic and less calcium. Your calcium to alk is a bit out of wack. Also, when you say 7 dkh, you really mean about 2.5 alk. DKH and alk are related, but alk is what you're really concerned with. having a 3.5 to 4.5 alk would be optimal and would help prevent swings in ph.
So if you're adding 10 mls of b-ionic (both parts) then add 5-7 of the calcium and 10-12 of the alk. Keep testing util they balance out and then return to normal dosing.
You could also add superbuffer DKH. That would balance them, just be careful and follow the instruction. Plus, test test test!

Well the weekend has passed and the zoa's are opening more and more but still none have fully opened yet...is this due to the amount of time that they were closed for or do i need to relocate them to a higher flow higher light area?

NO! Don't touch them!:eek1:
Let them do what they're doing. If they're beginning to open, then that's a good sign.

I have some bad news. My PHE's have gone missing. With all the colonies I have I must have accidentally dropped them somewhere? I can't find them anywhere, there are gonna be a few unhappy campers when trade time comes this month...:sad1:

Someone needs to send me some.

They're real purty and I was going to share some this April with some lucky folks. Sadly, they're gone. I lost a frag of kedds reds that way too.
God I need to get this tank to it's new home!

well im sorry to hear that they look really nice too!!! o o my zoa's have opened enough to know that they are eagle eye zoa's...i would love for them to grow the way they look in your tank and are they a rarer kind or are they a more common type?

Hey Reef Junkie You need to give that tank a good going over to find those PHEs.....Eagle eyes are really common now a days, as they have been fragged and past on qutie a bit. They are also seen more and more in LFS and online for cheaper and cheaper. They are still one of the best viberant colored zoanthids out there.

check zoaid.com
That has a list of some of the most coloful zoas in the hobby.

Azurel,
I know, I have to find those PHE's. Otherwise I'm gonna have to trade for a new frag. I know someone out there has some for me if that's the case.

Hey, what does Azurel mean?

It is the name a character in a comic book I was trying to get published many years ago....it is actually from the actual spelling of azrael which has been in some dialects the Angel of death ect....In my story it was one in the same just spelt different from another dialect.

Very cool! Azrael, wasn't that the name of the cat that belonged to the wizard Gargamel in the Smurfs?
How come I get this feeling I shouldn't have typed that?!

So, where's this comic book?

LOL....Yea that's him. I never got it published, most of the major comic book publishers require at least 5 years expireance how do you do that when they all require it for a resume. I started to work with Eclipse comics but they went under shortly after discussions, then I tried Image Comics(Spawn..ect..) and at that time they were not taking any more submissions. Their rules have changed now and you have to put together your own team of people but, I haven't had the chance to work or draw in a long while. So unfortunaly it is still unprinted.

It will take time, it's these times that patience is even more key then ever.....I have been there and I know it's hard especially when you want to see them in their full glory.

Hey guys, I had a little run in with god, but I'm back now.

Road, keep the zoas where they are and the next time you post, I wanna see a picture!

Azurel,
A buddy of mine used to draw comics and was going to try to get one published, but it never came to fuition. He was pretty good too!
I'll have to get him to e-mail me some pictures he drew.

Bill
