I Need Help...Please w/ RO/DI assembly

Jeff,

I do not have that exact model, but they all work in similar fashion. Basically there is a Line In that is right before the first canister filter. It should have an arrow or something on the body showing water flows into that first canister. The canisters should be in series (meaning no tubing to attach) and the last canister will plug into your RO membrane (the large tube on top). Again look for the arrows showing water in. It does not appear there are any DI chambers off that, so there should be a line coming off the actual RO membrane on the opposite side where the water went in. This is where you get your 'good water.'

The RO membrane will also have the waster water tube coming off of it too. It should be labeled. Soo... one line going into the canister, one line for waste water off the membrane, and the actual good water coming out the end of the membrane. Just remember that to filter the water, water travels through the filter so if it goes in one side, it has to come out the other side.

I sure hope this helps, kinda like flying blind. :) If you need help figuring it out, I can help you out. Should not take too long to get you up and running.

Jeff - please tell me you didn't pay $287 for one of those? If you did - I would strongly suggest you return it and purchase another unit. Most nicer RODI has 3 pre-filter stage, then the RO, then the DI. That unit only has 2 pre-filter stage.

It's hard to explain how to hook it up with being there. If you need help this weekend, give me a call. If I am available and you don't live out in Timbuktu , I'd be more than happy to help. BTW - how are you getting the supply water line to the unit?

Thanks Mike. :)

Let me see if I can figure it out. I got this one used and the guy I bought it from had it rigged differently. He cut the old hoses off and just gave me new ones. I, however, have no freakin' clue as to how this goes. LOL

Minh,

I paid $80 for it, used, with all new-in-bag filters (except for the 35gpd membrane). I think at this price, it's okay.

I live about 10 minutes from Herman. If you don't mind, I'll just drop by so you don't have to come here. Or if you'd be in the Natomas Park area, feel free to stop by. I basically just need to hook these darn hoses up so I could use it right away. :)

I only have the garden hose as my water source.

This is not the exact unit you had but the concept of connecting is is pretty much similar, hopes it help.

Water input connect to the first pre filter #1, then the output of that to 2 and output of 2 to 3, then output of 3 to input of the Membrane, the membrane have 2 output, one go to the DI and one go to the drain. Output of DI go to your sump/resevor.

If you want to head over - give me a call. I live about 2 minutes from Herman in Davis. I'll PM you my phone number.

Anthony has the the basic concept down. However, on mine - the water input is on the left and goes toward the right side.

Just want to add one thing to Anthony's post. Make sure that on the prefilter canister, water flows from the center to the outer edge of the canister. You can check this by unscrewing the body from the lid. Look inside the lid. You should be able to determine which outlet goes to the "outside" and which goes to the "center."

Okay. I think something is a little wrong in my set-up. I just ran my RO/DI filter about an hour ago and my 44g container is already full. How fast do these things go?

My membrane is supposed to be 35 gpd and it only took an hour to fill a 44g container!

Could you guys give me an idea on how fast your filters go? Give me your gpd rating and actual time to fill your containers.

Thanks!

Heh... you sure you are not collecting the waste water? 44g/hour - no RO/DI filter I have ever seen work that fast.

There is a waste water outlet and a good water outlet. The waste water outlet will pump about 3x the amount of water that you see coming out of the good water.

Okay. I re-checked my tubing installation and found (2) tubes were interchanged- stupid me!

Earlier, the flow was so fast it looks like it's peeing after 7 bottles of beer. Now, it looks like it's trying to pass a kidney stone. This thing is hella slow!

Thanks again!

HAhah yep sounds like it's working now.
:)

Keep in mind that it's rated for 24 hours at a water temp of like 70 deg with a PSI of like 70. So they usually go even slower than the "Rating" says.
