I need opinions on APEX Controller

I am considering buying an apex controller from John next week... How do you like yours and is it worth the Investment... it would be utilized to monitor and control 2 Solana's... want something that is expandable in the future and reliable... from reading reviews they are top notch but I want input from current owners...

I move up from an ACIII Pro. Some things I like - some things I don't. All the initial release bugs haven't been worked out yet, but they're nothing that would keep me from making the same move again. In any case, I think it's the best unit out there, for the money.

It is my first controller so I can't compare. For me it was easy to set up and use for lights, pumps, fans and Tunze streams. Plus easy to expand as my system grows.

This is my fourth controller and this is by far the best I have used so far. Mine has been bug free for all that I am using it for. I do think they could do a few things better but for what I would change I do not know of any other manufacturers that has the features I would add.

I think Curt is moving in the right direction with the product line, but I truly believe the Apex needed more R&D before it's release. I have used Neptune products for years and I won't be moving from my AC3Pro's anytime soon.

Noobie do you need help with it? Maybe one of us could help somehow? Unless it's hardware issues of course. Weird I normally get the junk but I have used several neptune controllers and am very familiar with how to program them and mine has been flawless. My update went very smooth without any problems. Point and click and it was done. let me know.

Was just an opinion. Don't own one, won't buy one just yet. Picked up another AC3Pro over the Apex just recently and this was after I had the chance to research it up close and personal.

Thats the great thing about opinions chuck. We are all entitled to them. I never owned a pro3 so I can't compare to that.

I like the unit, don't get me wrong..... Just think it's still being developed and as such I generally wait for all the bugs to be worked out. Heck, I still won't run his 3.4 software update on my pro's. Still has gremlins if you ask me.

I totally understand that. Look at windows. bug city after all these years. Wish I knew what bugs people were having here so I could test mine in those situations to see what mine does. I found some instructions to be written backwards but that seemed simple to figure out when I thought about it a bit. I did have the divide by 10 selection not work the first time I clicked it but I unchecked it and redid it and it has worked ever since. The feed cycle button scrolls too fast but I found a light fast tap gets it right everytime.

I haven't noticed any bugs in mine yet. There are some goofy things about the unit though especially on startup. Definitely have to hardwire to PC and do the firmware and webpage updates first. The thing that gave me the most problem was getting both my Tunzes to on/off at the same time. A little searching and asking in the Neptune forum here on RC and I was good to go.

I can't compare to any other controllers as this is the first one I have had.
