I'm looking for a new bulb and I would really appreciate any advice. I have a 50 breeder tank and from July 05 to June 06 I was running a 400w Radium at 20k, mogul base. I know its a lot of bulb for that tank but it was free, so I raised it up a few extra inches. I changed to a Giessmann 10k to encourage more growth. I now have tremendous growth but i think a few corals are suffering from the intesity. I want to switch to a lessor wattage so the bulb doesn't have to be 2 feet off the tank. I hear good things about the phoenix 14k...what wattage would you recommend?

why not keep the 400 and just make it a 15000K instead? it would have a mixture between the growth of the 10000K and the intensity of the 20000K. so you think they are loosing intensity from too much light? or too little blue? the 15000K will be a mixture giving you the best of both worlds.
or could it be jsut form not acclimateing yoru corals? depending on the age of the 20000K bulb, switching right out to a brand new 10000K could be a huge jump in PAR.
