I seem to be missing red and yellow

I was playing around with the T5 fixture from Steve, and put it over my cube for fun.

It washed out almost all blues and greens, but yellows and reds exploded. My CAR's red skirts were crazy bright where before they were brown, red hornets were lit up like Christmas, and the blue hornet's yellow went nuts too.

What wavelength am I missing from my LED's that excites red so much? The rig I have currently is a mix of 5000K, Cool Blue, and Royal Blue.

Maybe something purplish?

This is why I stick with MHs. I feel they provide a broader spectrum of frequencies / light energy.

What really needs to happen is someone needs to manufacture LEDS which target the specific frequencies that maximally excite photosynthetic pigments. IMHO, then one would love bomb color with minimal heat and energy usage.

Until then, supplementing LEDS with T5s seems to provide more uniform coloration. There are also people with all T5 lighting who are very happy with their colors.

Your also just seeing what colors the T5's bring out. I did the same thing and now that I've been running both the actual colors have brightened up a lot, to where when the t5's are off, the reds, yellows and oranges are still really vibrant.
