I still cant post oin the ORCA forums

I "tried" to register months ago and I still cant post.


I just tried to re-register and it says my e-mail adress is in use or whatever so some part of my registration the firts time went though.

can anyone help, I am in need of some more "local" assistance.

Go on ORCA's site and click on Members List on the left side. Go to the second page and pm Lutefish, member #62. He's one of the site administrators and should be able to fix you up.

I thought I might need to "introduce" myself in the new members area and that didnt work either- still getting the same message as above.

Don't login from the homepage. There should be a login link somewhere. Use that.

Session errors are a result of problems with the forum software communicating with your computer. The host computer and a cookie on your computer use the "session ID to prevent someone from "hijacking" your login.

You should not have any problems if you login from a different computer or using a different browser.

Try the following steps to get your existing computer and browser working:

1) Log out from the forum using the "Log Out" link
2) Clear the cookies from your computer
3) Log back in and try again

One way or another we'll get you working. Every so often people have problems with these sessions errors. I, along with every one else, wish they didn't happen.

I've never been able to login from the homepage. You need the screen where you have to type in the random numbers. Any chance of putting that login on the homepage?

There may be other issues too. The ORCA is running phpNuke which includs a semi-modified (is that even a word?) version of phpBB forum software. The problem is that phpBB wasn't written to be included as an integral part of other software. This means that phpNuke, Drupal, and the others that use phpBB have to rub their bellies at the same time as patting their head. Long story short - it can be a pain.

Here at Reef Central they run vBulletin which is a more robust and better and integrated package which have have admin'd in other circumstances.
