i recently came across some great live rock that a guy at work was getting rid of, he said "saltwater tanks take up too much of time" sissy. luckily i have never encontered flat worms nor have i seen them. i read a little about them though. i was wondering if someone can throw up a picture of these so i can determine what they are . the things im talking aboutare no more than a 1/2 long and when i put the live rock in my tank i started seeing them come out of the rock. they are the thickness of a small bristle worm but they are white. please somebody help me. i just got done battling a gorilla crab on some live rock i got from a local saltwater store, i got him though.

thanx in advance mike

these were round, kinda like the tubular things that our on the live rock that send out a string to catch food.

thanx for the replys guys, the colr is right and the diameter seems right on but i only seen 1 in a spot at a time. is it possible the rest of the body is in that hole? are these good or bad? if bad how would i go about getting rid of them?

thanx in advance
mike

This is a spaghetti worm

Could also be a vermetid snail if it has a hard tube that is attached to something. If they are mobile then they are probably not vermetid snails. They have very thin threads for catching food.

Or maybe it is just an amphipod by your description of being white and about 1/2" long.

defianetly not a pods, thank god its not a flat worm. i wish i can take a picture. i was thinking that i have the live rock in a bucket with powerheads and no lights. when i put them in my tank with the lights on is when they popped out. im going to get a light and hold it over the bucket for a couple of minutes. i will be back in minutes with the results.

Are they like tentacles that seem to reach out and drag debris up their length? Then a spaghetti worm, which is a great inhabitant: big ones are really neat to watch over time.

Are they long and stringy and actually seem to crawl around like one discrete worm? I've seen these, but I have no idea what they are. Mine are like thread thin though.

Are they sort of tublar, and never seem to move anywhere but do reach out and seem to suck up rocks and debris and then retract back where they came from? Probably some sort of Peanut worm.

dtip i dont know how long they would of gotten because when i seen them crawling out of the live rock i just yanked them out of the water. i think im going to put them back into the water here in a little bit. as far as the tentacles go i think i know what your talking about there. they are attached to the rock and at feeding time they strech the tentacles out and nab food.
