I've been holding out, but the simple truth is I'm not willing to run a window air conditioner 24/4 to keep my tank cool given the current cost of energy.
A chiller that runs when necessary HAS to be far more economical. Anyone selling one?

Not sure what size or model you are looking for, but Current USA always sells slightly used or repaired/blemished units on Ebay and you can usually get a good deal. I think this 1/3 model retails for close to $900, and they have the bidding starting at $249.00

ReefCentral.com

Hope that helps

Thanks Chris,
I'm not a big fan of buying on ebay, but that's a deal I might not be able to refuse.
I'm still hoping for something, maybe a little bigger used locally.

On a side note, while I appreciate your intentions, I had to break your ebay link. We don't allow linking to live auctions/sales off site.

Shoot there goes my Commission lol

I am always a little cautious of ebay too, but I if you research reefcentral people seem pretty happy with the current stuff from there. Not sure if it is big enough for your setup though, but they do have sweet deals on chillers and lights.

good luck, I might have to look at one too, my tank is hiting 82 today with the ac on!!!

My tank topped out at 84.9 today :( I took the A/Cs out of the attic and put them in when it was 84.6. It's down to 84 now, and going down, but I see trouble on the horizon.
1/3 is a little small, I have about 500 gallons to chill.

If I'm going new, Tony is the man. I was really hoping to shave a few bucks off the cost buying used.

my tank hit 88 and i lost some corals. chiller is now hooked up and at a nice 79-83. Its a must and going to be a hot summer

I wound up with a used 3/4 HP unit. I'll report back once it's hooked up.
