I think it's time

this is my rock, I have a lot more of it, need some good live rock to seed it with. Who has the best along with live sand> I'm in NJ so of course somewhere near but if not it is what it is, got to pay to have it shipped anyway. Anybody in NJ have any they want to part with, doesn't have to be a lot.

I have never heard anyone report anything negative about Tampa Bay Saltwater's live rock or sand which is aquacultured in the Gulf. In fact, every review I've seen had been extremely positive. They also sell The Package which include rock, sand, and cleanup crew.

KP Aquatics has really nice aquacultured Caribbean/Florida Keys live rock. But, they do not sell live sand.

Gulf Live Rock is another source for aquacultured Gulf rock and sand that has gotten good reviews over the years.

If I were setting up a new tank, I'd likely got with some rock and sand from Tampa Bay Saltwater and add some KP Aquatics rock for diversity.

Thanks, all those places look good, but I don't need a lot like the Package, too much, for me right now and having some rock anyway, just want something to seed the tank with. I have ,ore rock in a bin, that I might use too. Pieces are either the same size or lsmaller, but all tpyes, even some branch

I have bought about 220 pounds of TBS rock. 80 pounds years ago and 140 pounds when I set up the 240. It is shipped wet and if you pick it up at the airport and get it into a tank all the cool stuff is alive and not lying dead in the box. Crabs, stars, shrimp, an urchin.
I raised the crabs and had them 4 years. One of my wife's favorite things I gave kept. They get big.

a molt. They got much bigger. One was especially friendly and liked to be fed.

In case I didn't make it clear, you don't have to buy The Package from TBS. They also sell rock and sand by the pound.

Thanks everyboody for your respondes. Thanks for info on the live rock and when I was knee deep into my mini reef, Dr. Foster and Smith were one of the top providers in the saltwater aquaria. I guess times changes a lot of things. When I stop, ther wer alot of things you couldn't get, like those Peppermint Angels. I remember hearing of them being sold for a wjole lot ok dollars for a pair. I wrote about in one of my old post on here. They are just gorgeous fish,. Don't think they're selling them now days with all the bans on thing. I know the aquarium in hawaii had the 1st pai in captivity. That when I fell in love with them If my memmory serves me well, there was a pair also in Japan or cChina. Price tag them 50 big ones a piece. That's a lot for a fish. If they were to die, off to the taxidermist they go, lol. I'll just have to settle for the poo man's Peppermint angel, the Multi-barred Angel, tha's about as close I can get to the Peppermint. And if I could find one somewhere out there.
Drs foster & smith was actually bought out by PetCo. At first I thought petco would have absorbed their available stock but it never happened. All petco did was eliminate a competitor that had more variety than them. The last time I went shopping online for chemical filtration, it was on Chewey which seems to have a similar variety of items. They’re a good competitor to BRS.

DFS has really gone downhill. It’s a shame, they were awesome back in the day.

I used to shop on their website all the time. I kinda got confused about what you said since I remember there being no website at all for them after petco announcing they were buying them out. They didn’t have a section on petco like they do now. Doesn’t make sense if you ask me, they should have just kept the website. I also remember they lost ownership of liveaquaria.

Oh, you’re right. Getting wires crossed. Petco spun off LiveAquaria to a private equity group and that’s when they really went downhill.

I remember them both Griss and I beat Paul B does too. And just like most things they get gobbled up by the BIG name stores never to be seen or heard from again. Or just go out of business for a multitude of reasons. There once were a lot of places to get stuff from, can't fid them now. That's the way it goes now days.

True. There used to be so many LFS in St. Louis, scattered geographically evenly. Now, there’s just a handful and none are anywhere near me. I have to drive 30-45 minutes each way to get to a decent LFS.

In Miami, we have many LFSs. I have two relatively new ones near me but our oldest most popular LFS went out of business. It was called Saltwater Aquariums. It was open since the 70’s recently closed about 2-4 years ago. It was a family ran business. The father passed away from cancer & the children were running the business, mainly a tall red headed guy, until they couldn’t anymore it seems.… Very sad.
