I think my Lawnmower Blenny starved to death!

I can't find my lawnmower. I think I found his remains. I guess he starved to death. Possible? My tank has been pretty algae free for a while. I Really liked that fish. But if I don't have the algae what's he eat? What do folks supplement for those guys?

Algae. Supplement with nori. There are also frozen algae-based food like formula two.

Well, it is possible, that it starved to death, but more than likely a different issue. I have a Starry Blenny (which is very closely related to the Lawnmower, unless I'm mistaken) who was only eating what he could find on rocks and glass... Over time he started chasing any food I put in the tank, and now he eats like a pig.
Every fish is different. Some will eat Nori, mine won't. Some will eat flakes/pellets/mysis/etc. Mine eats all of the above, but won't touch nori, and now he doesn't even graze the glass or rocks, he just sits his fat butt on the Monti shelf, waiting to be fed.

I will likely try again with this species and pick up some food to intentionally feed him. I feed my tank a variety of foods for this very reason. I guess what I was feeding just didn’t take

Mine doesn't touch any food except the algae on the glass and rocks. In a small enough tank, its very possible he starved. Maybe start off with one that's already eating nori at the lfs

I have one for 14 months, never eats anything but algae (+ a mouthful of Copepods at the same time)...... He keeps two small patches of green hair going....but like land grazers....only takes the tops......if the next one will take Nori....wouldn't hurt but I am not sure I would attribute death to starvation.

My (similar) red/orange spotted blenny is a pig - she goes for brine and mysis like crazy

My scopas tang is like that.. when I first got her.. she kept my tank spotless of algae.... then she discovered the frozen foods I feed the clowns and banggai.... she hasn't touched algae since...
