I want eggs and I want to raise them

I am starting my tank back up and I am looking for a pair of the easiest clowns that lay eggs. I started with perculas and they appear to be one of the more difficult to get to lay eggs.

I waited 3 years on my perculas and nothing. I do expect is should take 2 -3 years before I see any egg laying.

These clowns will be in a community tank with probably some chromis, couple of cardinals, a tang (not yellow), couple of Royal grammas.

What are your thoughts on this?

It seems that ocellaris or clarkii are the easiest to get spawning. You're best bet is to pay the premium for a proven pair which should give you the quickest eggs possible.

If you don't want to pay the premium for a proven pair then buy the largest fish you can find, probably WC and once she's out of QT get one of the largest CB fish from a community tank. This will give you what will likely be a WC female and a nice dominany CB juvie that is likely to have a shorter trip to maledom. Expect at least 3-4 months for the male to mature if you start with a juvie.
