i wanted to see your pics of flame, scott's, exquisite wrasses

These fish often look so different from eachtother and web sites. Id like to see some pics of actual owners so I can decide which are most consisitently like the pics on marinecenter, etc

you can see the differences --yours had a nice red blotch and some extra finnage on the tale. Is the body blue or green?

Ironsheik, they tend to lose the red if theyre not kept with females. Thats why you'll see some with it, and some without.

Wow Snorvich thats an expensive tank you have there all $100+ fish, but looks nice. All the flames are slightly different I notice...some more yellow-- looks like something Id like to eye before buying
Yeah, Dsouth that site has a good pic of a nice one. I'm leaning towards a Scotts and Exquisite I think. I like the supermale flames like in marincenter, but thats too much cash for me.

Ironsheikh: What bothers me with that ebay site is that he/she has $14.00 shipping and then it states you can choose US Postal Priority express service for $40.00. I don't know about you but I would NEVER mail fish through USPS.

Thank you LargeAngels. I enjoy fairy wrasses. I also enjoy rare and usual angels as do you but my tanks would be unsuitable for these.

I ONLY use priority next day FEDEX. I never ship near a holiday as there are often shipping delays. I am also very sensitive to collection methods as long term health depends upon them. Some of my fairy wrasses are from very deep waters which require closed circuit rebreathers and these are used by relatively few people.

Since fairy wrasses require multiple feedings per day for optimum health, this also requires excellent protein skimming. Of course this hobby is not an inexpensive one.

I checked Reef Hot Spot. Some of their prices were good, some were not. They do have priority overnight FEDEX which is good. And of course there were some identification issues such as the Flame Wrasse price being appropriate to a supermale rather than a female. But all in all, not a bad place IF the fish are healthy.

For me, I would rather go with a guaranteed connection directly to the collector which in my case is Brian Greene.

Your mileage may vary.

which is the male of a pair. I would like to get another female of this type since the females in the wild live in groups.

I knew abou the fairy thread but never clicked thru cuz of the length, but finally got thru 34 pages of one.

yeah, I dont trust the shipping--its a female seller. I emailed her asking what she wanted for reserve just curious cuz I'd never bid on it. She's says theyre worth $250. I just posted it to show you guys another color variant. I see live aquaria has several kinds for $89

Twilight aquatic has a good deal on flame wrasses --$130 for a pair and 30 for each female. ALso a guy emailed me that he gets labouti for $90 and mccloskers for $40

Ironsheikh would you be willing to share the contact for McCoskers (which may or may not be, they are hard to tell apart from some of the other flashers). Still, if they are, it is a good price.

However, $250 for a Scott's wrasse is not realistic. I think there are three color variants of Scott's but they are one species whose color fades in the absence of a female. At her price, I would go with Live Aquaria for those; I have had excellent experiences with them.

I am happy to see photos of any fairy and flasher wrasse by anybody.

Here I show some color morphs of two species that I have been keeping. C. jordani has no great differently colored variants.

C. exquisitus is cheaper from Indonesia (Bali) and Pacific, but it is commanding a high price (some US$60.-) when it comes from Kenya (blue-green variety).

C. scottorum always is rather expensive in Japanese market; they require some US$ 80-120.- If it comes from the Cook Islands it is some US$150.-

since i dont have any good pet stores in my area I have to order online and SO MANY color variants make it hard to choose.

The exquisite really looks different in every shot --I think the Kenya or Vanatu is what Im looking for and for the Scott's I think cook Island.
