Ice Cap ballast repairable?

i have a few year old 400 watt Ice Cap ballast that was idle for a few years. about a year ago i started using it again. about two weeks ago i changed the bulb and all was well with greatly increased light output. now it won't light. the lamp flickers briefly and extinguishes not to relight again. it is an old but never used bulb, maybe three to four years old.

could it be the bulb? i don't have another to test the ballast with.

are these ballasts repairable? worth repairing?

should i just replace it with LED's? that would be much cheaper in the long run.

Coralvue can repair the ballast for you or you can buy a used one. They 660's show up occasionally in the used dry goods section.

I wouldn't pay more than $40-50 for a used one.

You can also go the route of buying a standard ballast (ATI )for about $25. It won't overdrive the bulb and the par will be less but it will be spec'd correctly. There are other brand names that will suffice also that are similar to the ATI ballast.

I think those all drive two bulbs.......not sure if you can wire them for one bulb.

Is it a halide? If so, I missed that...........assumed you were talking about T5 ballasts
