Ich outbreak in QT from DT water

A couple months ago I bought 3 Dispar Anthias that went into a QT with new salt water. The only thing I treated was Prazipro as a precautionary measure. After two weeks I introduced a couple gallons of tank water (as I usually do) to gradually increase the salinity and get them accustom to the tank water. A few days later they all got Ich. So I treated them with copper for a couple of weeks until they were all healthy again.

A couple more weeks go by observing them and I poured in a couple gallons of tank water and within a day one has Ich again. So obviously I've come to the conclusion my DT has Ich even though no fish are exhibiting any signs of it. I have 10 fish in my DT with no problems. I know with a healthy immune system and good water quality they can be fine in that environment.

But now I'm struggling on what to do with these Dispar Anthias. Do I treat them again and sell them? Kinda at a loss on this one.

How long did you treat them for? Cooper takes 30 days and what level?

Most recommends 21-30 days 2 weeks isnt enough. I think it's not your dt. They probably had it coming in.

I guess I have nothing to lose to try it again for a month this time. Really weird, I've never had this happen before.

So there is no way to know if your DT has ich or no.
Until that is cleared, no matter how long you Treat the anthias, if they are going into that DT, it will get infected.

Cumbersome and painful but the right thing to do is Remove All the fish from the DT, QT treat them with copper. Keep main DT fallow of ANY fish for 3 month, then reintroduce all the fish back.
That is the only true way to be 100% sure.
I know not everyone will do it, but that IS the right way.

Anthias are not particularly suceptible to ich, so if it were in your display and fish immune, I’d not have expected the dispar to show symptoms. I’d be inclined to also think they brought it with them.

Have you ever tried the tank transfer method? I agree with the others that it seems unlikely that they are getting it from the DT water. The TTM is very effective and less stressful imo.

I have done TTM in the past and was just thinking about that last night. I might actually do that this time. I just need to work out the schedule to do it.

I did start them on Cupramine again yesterday and I'm seeing an improvement.
