I don't have access to formalin unless I order it online, I do have Ich-x which contains 3% formaldehyde. Will this product be effective and has anyone used it with success?

If you dip then put the fish in an uninfected tank, it should be effective as long as this is repeated several times. But if you simply replace the fish it will get reinfected.

3% Formalin content is quite low, so I'm not sure if the dosage they tell you will get the formalin level in the dipping water to an effective level.
The fishvet Formalin MS bottle instructs for dips 20 drops per gallon and a maximum of 50 minutes. But this is pure 37% formalin.
I would recommend to order 37% formalin online.
Until you get it use what you have but make sure you get the dosage right.
Formalin dips are best administered in combination with TTM during the transfers. This will provide the clean tanks and also clean the fish of any potential ich infections.
