If a fish has ick, can the ick hurt your corals (sps, lps, polyps, zoo's, etc, etc)
A friend of mine new hippo has ick and we are going to a frag swap this weekend. Not sure if adding a new coral is a bad idea for him?
More likely, corals might eat ich in its free form. Can't think of any reason why not. And I've never had a fatal ich outbreak in a coral tank. But I've got a hammer that takes up half my 54 g tank, and it eats like there's no tomorrow.
I'd say no problem, but he should get that fish out to do any treatment of it whatsoever.
ich won't hurt corals, but if you are transporting corals from an ich tank to a fresh Dt you may get some sticky ich cysts that tag along on the base of the corals and infest your tank. They can't provide life to tomites like a fish can but they can be a carrier in the cyst form.
