Ick getting bad after 8 weeks of hyposalinity

bullitr

broke but happy
It's been more than 8 weeks of hyposalinity but my other Achilles will have 2 spot of ick do I decided to add a larger Achilles since I have to restart anyway but a 2 weeks later ick shows up bad. (maybe a mistake adding him in since every fish are doing good. The salinity at that time was 1.0095 maybe it climb up to 1.010 so I drop it to 1.0080 3 days but the ick is still there and seems like its getting bad. All the fishes are still active, eating well and very fat but the ick are spreading.

Any advice?

IME I've found hypo difficult to use and often ineffective. There are hypo resistant strains of crypto that are not effected with low salinity just as velvet is. The only treatments I trust are copper, chloroquine phosphate and quinine sulfate in a seaparate hospital tank. Plastic stock tank works well also

Yeah I heard about that but I can't do copper treatment because of the salinity tank transfer is will difficult will so large fish. :(

Your salinity is too high ..It must be maintained at 1.007-.008 at all times ..How fast did you drop it ?Should be dropped within 10 hours ..

I would get the salinity up as quickly as you safely can and start cupramine treatment in a hospital tank, assuming you don't have access to CP. Either way, those fish need treatment and hypo doesn't seem to be doing the job.

Its already 1.0080 for 4 days
2 emperor , Achilles and asfur still have it bad

how are they eating ?

ammonia in QT ?
what is the PH ?

I went through the same recently, after moving and storing my fish in LFS.

first 3 days achilles in hypo was doing bad, day 4-5 it started eating again, day 6 lost the spots, 7 its skin mucus was building up, now day 7 and its ich free it seems, swims, breathes well and so on.

Keeping PH up is important too it seems, now I dose seachem PH buffer, or use Tap water !

They are fine acting normal, eating well and very active. My ph are high and it not a qt its the whole tank 600 gallons system/ 435 display. No ammonia . Day 4 I heard it may take 4 more days before the fell off.

After 4 days if the ick doesn't fell off I will raise the salinity via tank transfer ...
That will be a lot if 40 gallons tank:(
Then after tank transfer do cupramine to make sure . Leave the tank fallow for 8 more weeks

Fish are so hard ...

If your not willing to set up another treatment tank, I'd go the raise s.g. and dose CP or QS treatment. Dim the lights, take the skimmer offline. Do you plan on adding caral at some point?

I am willing to do it but I don't want to rush it.
Yes it will be SPS dominant tank

ahh the main tank, got you, good luck :)

How is ich bad, but the fish are ok? The ich is going to leave the fish... That's part of the life cycle. I still highly recommend bringing these guys out of hypo and using another proven treatment before it's too late.

Hypo just worked for my fish. so cant say its a none proven method.

same with every other treatment, its the user .... many claim copper kills, yet many pros on here treat all fish with copper ...

if they dont loose the spots by tomorrow, something is wrong. as Ami pointed out, ich would leave the fish at some point and come back [Hypo kills them when they become free swimming]

Correct, but this is why I said "another" proven method. Hypo is proven to work sometimes, or even most of the time, but it's a very slow and touchy treatment, and a lot of time to slip up on something.

I am hoping the ick will drop tomorrow or the next day
The fish are still very active and eating very well.
