ick help pls

thanks for helping. My fish started to show ick on 6/08/08. The next day i picked up SANO ( i Know ppl dont think it works and all)
after one day of giving the medicatin the spots started to fall off.
Now its the 3rd day of medication and fish dont have any spots at all ( have a Yellow tang and a Box Puffer ). Is that how Ick gets cured ? Thanks

Ich does not get caused, it is on most wild fish in small numbers. In the sea it does not cause harm because a few paracites will not hurt much. In an aquarium the few paracites multiply again and again and the fish can't help but become infected. Your paracites came in with one of your fish probably because you diden't quarantine them. The paracites "fell" off your fish because they reproduced and became many more paracites that will most likely infect your fish more severly than they did before.
You may see the spots again in a couple of days.
Rarely the fish build up an immunity but in your new tank it will probably not happen.
You will need to read some of the posts about ich as there are many of them. I personally would remove the fish and treat with copper while leaving the tank without fish for 6 weeks but you need to learn more about the disease and your options. There are two cures that work, you need to find out which one you would prefer to do.

Part of the life cycle of ich is to mature and drop off the fish in order to reproduce in the substrate. It is this stage that you are seeing and gives the appearance of the fish being cured, only to come back about 7-10 days later.

BTW I put that stuff to the test (multiple tanks, controls, the whole 9 yards) and it doesn't work. Neither does any other so called "reef safe" remedy for ich.

My tank is fish only so i dont need reef safe medication.

Either copper (Sea Chem's Cupramine is best) or hyposalinity. Both are best done in a quarantine tank (QT). If your tank is a fish only without any inverts or live rock, than you can treat in the display tank.
