Hi!

I usually hang out in the zoanthid forum- have only ever kept a few SPS. However, I broke down and bought this in a LFS here today that had it listed as Acropora 'Turakawi'. It is a teal color with purple polyps. Is this its true name? Can't find a strain listed as such on the usual internet locations...

Thanks for your help,

Its hard to tell from the pic if its a Turaki or Gomezi, but I'm pretty sure its one of them. Look at it really hard and if it breaks, its a Turaki. ;) They are very delicate. They are both great corals, I have a few Gomezis and a Turaki I've grown out and its a fantastic coral.

I'd slightly favor Gomezi though - Turakis grow very tight without the bulbous tips.

Quite frankly, I have no idea. I egt SPS frags all the time for zoanthid frags from people who have nothing else to trade me (And I try to be nice and just take whatever they bring- people in this area alot of time don't have much money)- so I usually wind up trading them or selling them right back out of my tank again... The little green polyped guy came from a local guy who never did tell me exactly what it was. Like I said before, I'm not much of an SPSer- people just kind of assume it about me because of the tunzes, fuge, and the deltec skimmer.

Later on tonight, maybe I'll take pics of all my SPS guys and post them. Sooner or later they'll probably go up in the trade forum here on RC if I can trade them locally, but for now they are kind of just nameless short term tank inhabitants...

:D

Nice looking stuff Laurie..

No Clue #1 is Hydnophora
No Clue #2 Is pocilipora Eudexi <-(Spelling)
The Staghorn is Actuallly Scripps Acro Its and ORA Piece
Piece after the Blue Encrusting Monti is Pocilipora Damnicornius
the thing above the three pronged guy Is pocilipora as well...

the others need to grow a little more before I can tell.. the last "Boogerman" looks like a encrusting porites ,, possibly a monti ..

That purple encrusting Monti is awesome, Laurie. It's such a deep purple. I beleive your boogeyman is a Psammacora sp. The three pronged guy is another staghorn (acro). Not sure which, though.

Boogerman is a pavona minuta. I have one. Not so boogery green though. Love the purple petunia. (monti). Yellow detail is a monti digi. Lettuce nudi is a good vegi eater. All the rest are hot also.

Thanks GFlat and guys! It's neat to see what others think of them. And you know where I live GFlat if you want to talk further about the purple Monti- he might have a future date with my tool room.

Went: The guy who had it was calling it a "hulk"- I adopted Boogerman afterward because well, :ahem: I thought it was much more descriptive..

Could be a hulk sized booger lol. I like your name better.

Omg, I laughed sooo hard when I read that... What do you think the Hulk's boogers look like??? I guess it would make sense theya er neon green... but then what about The Green Lantern or the Green Goblin from Spiderman?? I don't think the Green Lantern's would be neon green, but the Hobgoblin's sure might... I mean, on that flying scooter thing you might breathe ALOT of bugs...

Ewwwww...
