ID and recommended treatment please

So, the anthias died this morning. I was not surprised by this at all because it's breathing was very labored last night. Good news is the Tang and Blenny are still alive and looking good. The tang looks good it's coloration and caudal fin are not worsening and it seem to be improving it's still to early in the treatment to tell.

I received the NLS ick-shield today. My question is I'm already dosing melafix and paragaurd. Can I just add the NLS ick-shield too? It seems like a lot of chemicals to be adding to a tank at once and that some of them may not be compatible or the combination might put too much stress on the fish. Should I stop the melafix/paragaurd treatment and go straight NLS ick-shield? I'll need to do a water change, etc? If so, how much? 50%? What is the protocol moving forward?
 
Definitely do a water change to get the paraguard out first. Paraguard says it's a safer form of formalin but you should not mix CP with any form of formaldehyde. I'd do a large water change and run carbon right away. I might wait an hour or two then do another water change. You'll want to start using the CP right away since this disease can kill quick but you'll need to get the other meds out first.

Well it's my bedtime so I'm not able to do a water change tonight. :lmao: I dropped a lot of carbon in the HOB so I'll let that run overnight. I'll do a water change in the morning run some carbon for a couple hours then remove it and dose the CP asap.

The bottle is marketed to treat ick and the treatment period last for 21 days. What is the treatment period for Uronema?
 
Also not sure if mentioned before or not but I would recommend wearing gloves when you put your hands in the tank. better safe then sorry.

This article does state that the recommended dosage for Uronema is 20mg/l but it does not recommend a duration. It goes on to say that...

"...in tank water dosed with Chloroquine at 40 mg/l (a higher than normal dose). After six hours, the number of Uronema in the treated sample had been markedly reduced...

In a second test, the bodies of two green chromis that had died from acute Uronema infections were exposed to chloroquine at 35 mg/l. A marked reduction of the numbers of the ciliate was seen within three hours, and only one surviving Uronema was seen on the body of one of the fish after eight hours."

So...If im treating at 20mg/l how long should I treat for? 48 hours?
 
So, I've treated the tang with about 18-22mg/l of CP for about 5 days now. I'm not seeing drastic improvements like I hoped. I've provided some pictures with highlighted areas of concern. Am I still dealing with Uronema? Could really use some help. Please let me know what you think?

Okay! I'm at a loss! I'm on the 9th day of CP treatment and the tang seems to be worsening slightly. It definitely has not improved and is still showing signs and symptoms of something. I'm not even sure if this is Uronema anymore. I read the article on the use of CP for Uronema. I figure with a 18-22 mg/l dose of CP that Uronema would have cleared up by now. Do I continue the CP treatment? Switch to an aldehyde treatment with Paragaurd? Go to copper? I really need some guidance here.

Vibriosis from vibrio bacteria (symptoms on fish look a lot like a uronema infection) - it's transferable to humans.

Myco bacteria infections (tuberculosis) - also transferable to humans.
 
It definitely could be if all treatments against Uronema and Brook have failed. The symptoms are near identical: Heavy breathing, red spots or ulcers, fin rot,...

You might want to try a broad band antibiotic if everything else has failed so far.

Is paragaurd effective against it? Could you please recommend a broad band antibiotic?
