okay my searching for ID has to stop..after some contact with national museum marine biology told a professor me that this fis is compleet a new species.. so there is no ID at the moment... its for sure a parapercis sp. but its the first that ever been catched of this genus.

Interesting! I sent the pics to a few ichthyologist friends of mine and they have sent them to another ichthyologist who is a specialist in this family of fishes. I'll post here when I hear back.

no its a parapercis sp.of the group cylindrica ... i had this week lot of contacts by email with a prof. dr.hsuan Ching Ho of the national museum marine Biology and aquarium in Taiwan... he is doing taxonomy of this fish group... and thats what he said:
copy of his email:
Hi Miranda,
My understanding is that you have only one specimen in your aquarium, right? With a series of your excellent photos, we still can describe it as new. Yes, you are right, the extreme high first dorsal fin is the key character to separate it from other congeners. Usually I am more conserved to recognize a new species, but this one is quite clear. However, it needs to be very careful to prepare the specimen, it will be a solo holotype.

My question is are you willing to sacrifice this fish and use it to describe as a species new to science? This is very important for conservation because we don't know how big the population is and a formal description will call the attention from other people. If we never do so, they will be treated as other names (in this case schauinslandi) and sold in the market without any consideration.

We described Parapercis moki based on only one specimen because it was collected 30 years ago and nothing similar was collected after that.

thx i am looking forward to hear.....

Sorry for the delay. My friend's contact also believes it may be a new species and also asked if I could ask you how you would feel about preserving it for description and DNA barcoding but I see you already have an interested party.

indeed its a total new species i know that recently. There was only one in import .. trought the searching i became in contact accidently by a prof.Dr.hsuan Ching Ho of the national museum marine biology and aquarium in Taiwan... after long frequently mailing he asked me the same if i want to sacrifice this fish to science... in a way i am open to science at the other side i prefere to see his behaviour in the tank... but.. yes there is a but... parapercis are very innocent fishes when they are little i have very expensive wrasses.. when the fish is bigger there is a possibility it will harrassing my other fishes do i want that or not?? But with a new species you never know... not even how big it will be ..
So now there is an appointment with the belgium university of marine biology to transfer the fish to them and they will take care of everything for going to DR. Hsuan Ching Ho (Hans Ho) in Taiwan. Maybe Bongoshrimps are they working together with this connection of your friend.. most of those profs are working together in every country.

I'd at least like once the new species named after me. if I was giving up my fish that is. LOL

I'm not sure if they are working together. Usually there is some competition when it comes to describing new species.
