Anybody have an ided of what kind this is. It has a pink fin on its telson as well as white raptorial appendages, and i cant see any meral spots.

Its actually on hold right now as i dont want a mantis i cant take care of. This picture actually does not do its coloring any justice.

Nice. this is the spearer that I asked Atlantis Aquariums to send me a picture of so I could put a deposit on it. In the 24 hrs that it took to send me a picture, they apparently found another buyer. Oh well, its a spearer, and I'd rather have a smasher although he is neat.

If its a spearer, someone should have told it not to smash that crawfish it was fed. Thats a new one timmy, do you have any more info on it?

Color: Dorsal surface pastel metallic pink, with grey green medially. Telson median crest deep pink. A2 scale pink.

Aquarium Requirements: No info, but i think it's the same like O. scyllarus.
I have taken these infos from Revision of the australian stomatopod crustacea.

Eddie at AA told me that it was a smasher and it was $40, then this other guy came over when I called the next time and said it was definitely a spearer and it was $60 because it was so rare. If it is a smasher, that's very unfair since I offered to buy it on the spot until they told me that it was a spearer.

Well apparentley this species is more important than we thought. Dr. Roy called called me and said he needed it........nough said.

It is a male Odontodactylus Cultrifer as timmy said. He is currently on his way to his new home with the dr. And i now have a beautiful female Odontodactylus Havanesis courtesy of the Dr.

I made it back to Berkeley through the traffic. The O. cultrifer is doing well although I'm glad I checked the salinity of the shipping water. It was about 4 parts low from what we use. I will acclimate the animal and get it into my best tank tonight.
I really appreciate the help. This is a great animal that will answer a lot of questions that I have had for years. I'll post some photos in a few days.

No problem. The O. Havanesis has been under the drip for a little over an hour, and shes doing great.
