Salt Creep
Well not sure if it's a anemone or some kind of LPS. I'm leaning toward LPS. It's very small, around 1/8"-1/4" oval and mostly comes out at night, it's partially shaded now, so kinda stays out. The polyps/tentacles are clear with milky white dots/striping. These are the best pics I could get with my P&S.

Any suggestions?????

Thanx for looking;)

My first thought when I see clear tenticles like that is aptaisia, but that definitely has a skeleton associated with it.

Honestly, I'm not confident in a definitive id, but it almost looks like an unpigmented tubastrea/dendrophyllia (sun coral). A quick search turned up this photo:

Keep in mind that if it's just starting to grow, it may not have had enough time to grow an extended skeleton like the one in the photo that I posted. The polyp itself doesn't extend very far from the skeleton on a sun coral.

In any case, I don't think it's any cause for concern. Keep it fed, because it definitely doesn't have any zooxanthellae and keep us posted with how it grows! :D

I've got the same thing on the bottom of a zoo rock. It seems to do well with almost no light, hasn't spread, so I've left it there.

I'd love to know what it is

I cant see the pictures because i am at work but it sounds like it may be a hidden cup coral. comes on FL LR sometimes

Spot on ;)

Insane: TY

Me thinks I read toooooooo much while being online all day for work..at least it isn't totally useless...:)

Well, P. americana is a Caribbean species, but there are many several "solitary cup corals" found in the Pacific as well- all nearly identical.

Sandra: At least you have/acquire a bunch of fun facts...lol

greenbean: thanx, I just wanted some kind of verification on what it was ;)

The sponge that is on the rock is wild too. The veins/cracks open up to filter feed and close when debris gets blown on it.
