Right around here they seem to be about a year or two apart, the pics are mixed with my 75 gallon gigs, which I've had about 2 year now, I think.

Going by Fautin & Allen's Anemone Fishes and Host Anemone book and from my own experience with crispas, I still say it's a crispa. Just look at the texture of the tentacles in the last picture. And then there are the crispa (and malu) typical magenta tips that I have so far never seen on M. doreensis.

I agree that those old pictures look like LTA. Those verrucae do not look like LTA to me. They look just like my Malu verrucae.

Minh, you're right. The verrucae look the same, white bumps. I thought the LTA was more of a spotting, not raised white bumps. Maybe it's a hybrid.

Gosh, maybe it's crispa. I didn't even consider that, just like LTA because of the limited size, but then again, my gigs have remained small, compared to how fast others grow them. I'm stumped, doesn't really matter, but would be nice to know where it fits in. Thanks for opinions all!

Verrucae of LTA

Thanks for those LTA skirt pics guys. Now, I'm fairly certain it's not LTA, by looking at the verrucae. LTA, to me, look like color spots. My anemone's "spots" are obvious (more pronounced in person) raised white bumps. Puts it back in the "sebae" family. Looks a lot like Minh's malu, with raised white bumps. Maybe just a mutt.

Here is a pic of my malu's verruca and column. Although the yellow column isn't all that common so don't let that interfere with an ID.

Thanks Postal. That malu in your hand, that's what the underside of mine looks like. The white bumps are raised. I don't remember it having any color to it but purple.

So here's another one. Another anemone in the system has curly tentacles, that normally shouldn't.


If you look close, it has many curly/corkscrew tentacles going on.

I can't think of anything that I do that would encourage this, other than some lugol's once in a while.

I'm such an airhead. I just tested my KH (haven't tested in a few weeks) and it's just under 6. Doh! As I started looking, all my gigs have corkscrew to their tents. I'm guessing when I raise it, the only one with corkscrew tents left will be the one anemone, I'll call it a "sebae".
