I bought this about 8 months ago. It was still curled up in the bag from a new shipment at the pet store. I thought it was a carpet anemone, but now not so much. It is carnivorous and my clowns have started hosting it when my RBTA died. I would like to know definitively so I can start caring for it properly (light, food, flow, supplementation).

Thanks!

Should the tentacles be longer? If so, what's preventing full extension?

Not necessarily. Flow conditions can do it, for one.

I wouldn't change much up if I were you. You've got yourself what looks like a pretty healthy (at least not bleached) specimen.

it's in perfect condition, tentacle length isn't a concern, as long as it stays the dirty brown and you can't see the purple tips on the them you're in good shape. careful with the feedings thought, they'll grow quickly and take over a tank :) mine went from 3" to rolling up both sides of a 24" tank in less then 3 yrs.

Nice specimen! :D

I can vouch for the growth part. Largest one I've ever seen was a 7 year old specimen in Rob Toonen's old tank. Pretty much took up an entire half of a 55 gallon tank. I think it's at the MBA now IIRC.
