Idea for meeting or event

Heres an idea for a future club meeting or possibly an event. We could hold a club garage sale. I'm sure we all have old equipment, tanks and aquarium stuff we could get rid of. Have one get together where people bring stuff they want to get rid of sell, trade ect. We could do It if we have enough stuff as an event, open it up to the public, charge $2.00 a head and make it a club fund raiser. We could sell table space for people outside of the club that might want to participate or even local stores looking to unload old equipment or clearance stuff. I'm sure local stores would let us put up fliers for something like this. Maybe something like this could grow over time to bring in some manufactures and speakers. It would also be a good way to bring in new members.

What does everyone think?

I think its a great idea! But everyone has to wait untill I have money so I can buy things  I regret starting just a 12g already... I wanna go bigger. But very good idea. :p

Great Idea!! I'm sure alot of us have things we no longer need & looking to part with.

Sounds like a Swap meet.

Would be great if Stores got involved.

Lakeside, I totally agree. We should try to get a store that ends up with a bunch of goods to sponsor it- if nothing else to get peopl there and get rid of stuff from contract work.......I know at least one place that fits the bill- but not sure if the would bite...

Who has a big back yard? We could potentially do it at my place, but would need to wait until it is warm as it would definately need to be outside. We could couple it with making fish/coral chow- which in my case needs to be an outside project as well. And We can fire up the grill for eats.

If it gets that far, I have a half-way decent place...everything we would need. Problem is, Rotterdam is not really a central location (like Albany).

Just need to be sure we leave no fish guts lieing around for my wife to see/smell/pick up! :blown:

Hopefully not at the same time :D

Cool idea

Well if we have some fresh whole fish, the innards are a great addition to the chow for the tanks and we can grill up the fillets!

There is are a couple large fields that are part of a park (I think)near my house. People have flea markets, lawn sales, and donation runs there several times a year. I don't know if we need permission or not, but it's large enough to get all local FS, plus vendors, and members goods.

This may be a better idea if LFS get involved.

For making fish/coral chow and grilling...someones back yard may be best.

We need a hose, sink and electricity as well. Ken, I'm 99% certain a permit would be needed for the park- but they usually don't cost much at all (if anything). The permits are what keeps some semblance of order so that 2 things don't conflict and both groups have a failed function as a result.

Defin interested in the Fish Chow idea. I have been told that what i feed is more like treats and bad for water quality. Only good for ocassional feeding. :(

I'd say our place but not exaclty centrally located.

I'm always looking for things and looking to part with things..
Make it a once a year event. Swap, frag and Fish chow meet. Something for everyone. Etc, Etc!

Outdoor Bar-B-Q with Brews. Oh yeah!
