If you had a store.

how difficult would it be to keep mother colonies and just sell your frags? not just a few things, i mean the majority of a store just as frags. I like the idea of everything being grown out locally. You could sell online as well.
whats stopping you? You don't need a store.... Just an aquarium where you grow corals.
Even without the responsibility of a storefront this isn't as easy or profitable as it might sound.

Id expect to lose money. Lots of money. A maintenance\ consulting company might be fun in the right location. The economy would need to shift dramatically. Maybe a non profit greenhouse or outdoor ponds if i had a sugar mama.

There are couple good points here. Randy you are right about paying attention to feedback. But overall the general public have a poor understanding of it takes. We are fortunate to have such a base of hobbyists who voice their opinions and shop owners who listen. Maybe we could use a thread about ideas of what being a good hobbyists and customer is about. Its a two way street, gotta keep it fare :)

Great point!!!!!

Actually, this is very good and honest feedback for store owners looking to please their customers.

If you had a store what would it be like haha

I guess there's two scenarios playing out. There's fantasy land and a realistic store. It's nice to say I'd only sell high end not another store of clowns and yellow tangs but you probably wouldn't last long with that mentality in real world. You need to have a good mix. A few high end pieces that when you sell them it's like a nice bonus but you also gotta have your radioactive dragon eye colonies for a few bucks too. That's something ARC does do very well and I have purchased my fair share off of a $5 or $10 section.

I love the fact that ARC Has sales and specials. I can't speak for every store, but of the local ones in and around, but it's the only place I have seen. I have even gotten some steals from there as well, granted was a little bit of a gamble but they were honest and upfront about a 'damaged' fish....was bullied a bit
