If you had a surge device, would you put the outlets on one side, or both?

On a 120 gal that I'm building, I will have 2 surge tanks. Would you put the outlets on the same side of the tank to simulate the surf, or would you put them on opposite sides to make the flow more even? There will also be an OM Squirt with outlets in all 4 corners.

oposite. If you can alternate it enough, and still allow some dead time so there isn't always microbubbles, then that would be sweet!
