I'm back.

UPDATE.
I had been having a lot of problems with the tank and it's inhabitants...so I broke it down, and I'm starting over...kind of.
I have all the inhabitants in a temporary setup. I had to remove the multibar angels as they had developed a taste for coral candy. I also removed one of my leopard wrasses...it was getting aggressive. So for now the tank is back to just live rock...new live rock. The old rock had so many majano, hydroids, and bubble algae, I decided to scrap it and start with new rock. This also gave me a chance to reaquascape.

Well, the rock has finally cured, and the brown algae started in full force. I added about 200 Mexican turbos last night, and they looked like an army invading a foreign land. They have mowed the algae down overnight. I will probably pull a lot of them out over time, but for now I will keep them all for algae control. I also added 15 Tongan Nassarius snails. I will be adding 30 small nassarius, 50 ceriths, and 40 or so Scarlet Hermit crabs on Thursday. I will post pictures later.

Hey

I loved your old tank and aquascaped my big tank with yours in mind. I was very sad to see it break.

Very glad your up and running again!

Love the aquascaping with the new rock!

Hi! Love your tank. You really have an eye for aquascaping! That is rare :) What kind of sand is that exactly? What brand, grain size, and type? Also I noticed in your earlier pictures it seemed you had different colors being cast into the tank. It made it look kind of cool. Did you use different color temperature mh bulbs for that?

Thanks for all the kind replies. I use Marshall Islands LR. The sand is plain old Carib Sea Special Reef Grade sand...the dry stuff..not the live sand.
The lighting I had previously was a mix of 20K and 10K bulbs. I decided I like the 20K all the way around better. I don't care so much about fast growth of corals as I do about the color.
As far as aquascaping, I have always loved the look of an open structure. I added a valley to this one that I have always loved. The 30" depth of the tank really helps with that. I have started adding corals back to the tank now that the snails have got the algae under control. I wil have to take and post some updated pics soon. Maybe I will have time Sunday to do that.

I was wondering about when you Started over... how exactly did you scrub your rocks... I also have alot of majorie(pest Anemones) around... I was think of dipping my rocks into a concentrated CaOH solution... Do you have opinion or any draw backs...

Okay...here are some new pics.

Well, I am officially tired of dosing. I just bought a GEO 618 calcium reactor. Got a good deal from a friend, and decided to go back to the reactor versus dosing. Now I just need the regulator and CO2 tank. I have used GEO's reactors in the past and was happy with them. I am sure I will be just as happy with this one. I am going to try the Schuran media this time.
