Hello all in the reefing world

well i was not expecting to finish the frame this weekend, i did expect to have water in my tank though but since i have not found a close loop pump yet (i will buying one new online) i decided to get as far along on the stand as possible. i went homedepot this afternoon and bought all the wood, from raw length wood to finished frame was 5 hours (i thought it would take me a whole weekend). the canopy needs some refinement but overall i am very pleased with the out come, any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Manny, i am in and out of all kinds of peoples homes from differents walks of life and i have never seen something like it, i dont claim to have seen it all and i am sure its not an original idea but atleast IMO unique.

Nice, What kind of hinges are you using in the canopy? do you plan to have the caopy rest on the tank? I am afraid that over time with the weight of the lights and outer shell the canopy could fall of the hinges.

Man that tank set-up is coming out nice...
If (and thats a big if) go bigger like a 90, I am going to contract you to make me my cabinet and canopy for it!!!

HI Rogger, the canopy is going to hover over the tank with no support. the hinges are Stainless Steal HOWEVER i too am worried about the sag over time and am redoing the conopy, i figure the conopy with lights plus finished paneling and small shutter doors will weigh around 25 to 30 lbs so i will compensate for that the best i can, i am thinking of making it out of metal?

Hey Melvin, how are ya and the Family? if you like it now wait till its done! Anytime you need something JUST ASK, i am in it for the hobby not for the money (i cant believe i just wrote that, i am so broke i cant even afford to pay attention) :D

Thanks Ariel, how is the world treating you?

Melvin, thanks BUT for now i think i am OK, i am curing 140 lbs of rock that should be ready by the time my tank has water in it. i am looking for 1 very specific shape though but in no rush (actually i went over to CRF an hour ago just to see what they had), HOWEVER i will be oneday bugging you about a frag or two :D

I have the same set up for my 90 but the hood is not attached it can be removed and set aside when I am working on the tank.

Thanks Mel i will hopefully be ready for them in a short time

Fish2reef: my initial intent/design was to do that same thing i just need to figure how, i am not too worried about it now because i can always do it later. why do something now when you can put it off till tomorrow? :D not trying to rush things BUT I WANT WATER IN MY TANK

Thanks folks for all the positive feed back so far, it helps to motivate me and i am glad that there are not any negatives that have been mentioned for me to be worried about YET, but you will soon see my plumbing and then i am sure you guys will be saying "HUH? what the heck are you doing? "

TILL THEN,
Cheers
